    A couple nights ago, after the Cure concert, i came out of the subway station and rounded the corner to a huge mess:



    The details of what happened are a bit hazy, especially after going through a rough translation process, but the gist of it is that a sea water pipe broke and as a consequence, none of the toilets worked in my area while they fixed the problem. I didn't realize it, but many of the toilets in HK operate off of sea water in order to help conserve fresh water (pdf link).
    Neat. (the sea water usage, not the toilet breaking part).

    They even cleaned up the mess so that in the morning I could hardly tell anything had happened.

    That musta stunk! Ew. Is there a waste water treatment facility someplace in HK? They don't just dump raw sewage into the sea, right? To cut corners?

    so the moral of the story is... don't drink from the toilet!
