  My friend from Japan Ellie just left after staying in SF for a few days. She helped me study Japanese before I went to work in Tokyo a few years ago. I worked at a small web design firm near Shinjuku and lived in Asagaya. The good point about Asagaya was jazz "school" Manhattan. The school was really a bar where they gave lessons and had jam sessions late into the night. It was so small the bass player had to stand half way out the door to fit. i got a chance to go to a number of jazz sessions and do a few gigs in Tokyo. Hope to go back soon, I miss Japan.   A couple friends and I took Ellie to a San Francisco Giants baseball game. She yelled in surprise when a Keiichi Yabu, Japanese player, came up to bat. Folks from Osaka take their baseball seriously!
  
  Hope I can get back to Japan soon.
