Back in the US 9: Zachary's Reunion

Back in SF... I had a horrible flight out from DC this morning.  7am flight = waking up at 4:30am...  get in the plane,  taxi onto the runway, drive around for 10 minutes, then  captain comes on the radio and says 'we've got a faulty valve, we have to go back to the gate to get it fixed'...  Etchy falls asleep (cause he went to bed at 1am and woke up at 4:30am),  wake up two hours later and we're still there on the ground waiting.
今日とてもDCからSFまでの一番早Flightが有った。4時半起きました、7時Flightから。でも滑走路に三時間待てなければなりませんでした！悪い！　SFOまで2.5時間遅い着いた!　その後僕の2年前の博士アドバイザーと会いました、バークレー大学で。

I got to SFO 2.5 hours late,  rushed to get to my meeting on campus w/ my old PhD advisor.  The meeting went well,  surprisingly we spent more time talking about alivenotdead.com than we did talking about my university job. :-P


On the way out I snapped another campanile pic...  the weather was great.  I stopped by Dwinelle to try to find my old (4th year) Chinese teacher.  She wasn't in her office but I did find the 1st year teacher,  who vaguely remembered me from 1998 when I took her class.  We chatted for about 5 minutes, in which time she completely tore apart my Mandarin... reminding me just how much I have 退步'ed!  :-P

Then it was another rush back to eyeh's house for our pre-dinner rendezvous.  Eyeh put together a last minute trip to Zachary's:

With the requisite 45 minute wait out front...　人気過ぎから、お外で４５分待てなければなりません！


But it was all worth it! 
美味しそう？これはシカゴ式ピザです。知っている？とても厚いよ！アメリカの友達も一度遊ぶとても楽しかった！明後日香港帰る！

Good times hanging w/ the guys.  I've got one day left tomorrow to do some errands and see some friends before flying back via Seoul on Sunday...  the jet lag is going to be tough. :-P
