  • Back to the US 7: mass Transit + mass Consumerism

After the great 4 of july BBQ... I had to pack up and get to bed cause I had an early morning flight from SFO....

Luckily Mrs. Eyeh was able to drop me off on her way to work,  the problem is that she has to get to work by 7, so we left their place at like 5:45 am... oh man.  I made it plenty early to the airport... it was still pretty empty at 6:30am...

After a transfer at LAX, I was at Dulles: ロスで乗り換えた後ワシントン・ダレス空港に居た:

Yes, back to DC for a week w/ the 'rents...     No noticable improvement in the endless construction they've been doing here for years... still using the 'Mobile Lounges'...

On Friday I went with my mother to World Famous Potomac Mills Outlet Mall... 1.7million square feet of All American Consumerism!

We drove down in 'SHERPY'....  which has been sitting at my parents house for the past 2.5 years.  Its been a year since I drove a manual transmission, so it took me a while to get in my groove.

My mom hasn't come down here since my visit last summer, so we were surprised to see they had just opened a brand new costco as part of the mall:
    最近このマールは新コストコもらった。すごい新!(2-3週だけ入ていました)

Not to sound like a total geek, but you can actually tell it was only a few weeks old.  This food court had a unique menu item that I had never seen before at a costco - 'Italian Sausage' (much more classy then that Polish Sausage!)

I had good luck at the rest of the mall.  You'd think living in HK I would have no need for bargin hunting in the US... but to be honest, good clothes in HK aren't necessarily cheap (and cheap clothes are not not necessarily any good).  But the GAP and Old Navy outlets didn't disappoint.

I think I could make a good business taking GAP outlet's -60% off clearance stuff and shipping it to Japan (where the GAP store sells the same stuff at like a +20% markup over the US's full price)

The best shirt I got was this one: 一番面白い物ここです:

What is wrong with this shirt? (leave a comment if you can figure it out!)

And yes I did get a 'Snakes on the Plane' t-shirt too.... the wonders of 'Hot Topic'... speaking of which:

Now I'm a staunch heterosexual... but as soon as I saw the novelty boxer short section, I thought 'I should totally get these for Pat!'  Yes, they had BOTH Naruto boxer shorts AND Green Day boxer shorts...  but alas they were all much too large for Pat....

Actually my only real goal on this trip was to pick up a new pair of running shoes.  with all the walking and running I end up doing in HK,  I don't think I can go back to anything else.

Time to retire the Asics,  I ended up getting a nice pair of Nike Dart V Extra's for $50...

Afterwards we stopped at Red Robin to wait for the rush hour traffic to die down.

Getting my fill of 'American Cuisine' while I can! :-P

Speaking of which - bonus picture:

I didn't actually eat here,  but I couldn't help laughing when I saw it...  I want to see these guys expand their fast food empire to china!

Not only is the pagoda wrong, Satsuma should be much bigger. It's way more important that those capital fops. And where's the nation of Ainu? Rise up, my brothers.

And yea, I also do most of my clothing shopping in some outlet mall in Washington when I go back home. Some things just don't fit right especially: shoes and jeans. And I load up on vitamins.  HK can have some great items, but you really need to hunt them down.

she goes braless on normal days.  its bad to leave the bra on all the time, especially if it gets wet, so we leave it off since we're not generally going anywhere but short trips.

t-shirt - no, its not whats there, its what's not there!

    Sherpy!  (Where's her "bra"?)
Let's see --hmm--what's wrong with the t-shirt?  The pagoda is in Kyoto? Or it has too many stories? (Just wild guesses *hee*)

Naruto ones were L and XL,  Greenday had M's and L's....  they put them on large sizes because people who live in their mom's basements are L and XL size and they're the people who think Naruto underoos for adults are cool...

Seems like you peeps in the US, have a variety of food to chose & eat from, so lucky! Heard, that the standard living in the US (with an exception of NY because its standard of living is higher than Australia) is so much cheaper than in Sydney, I gotta go to the states one day, need to dig in to all the different food & shopping~ lol Panda express, thats such a cute name =)
