Did you know Michael Wong could sing?

You may or may not know that HK Actor Michael Wong is the brother of Asian-American actor Russell Wong. I knew that, but I didn't know that Michael was also a singer.

木曜日夜も一度コンサットへ行った。でも今回ちょっと違う、パンクバンドじゃない。ビグバンドでした。バンド長はMichael Wongでした。知っている？彼は80年代から有名な香港アクター。彼のショウでゲースト歌手が居た、一番見たいなリー・トングでした！

I was invited by friends to come see a concert last Thursday - it was Michael Wong's Big Band's CD release album. Of course I had to go to show some support, the beautiful and talented Miss Li-Tong was one of the guest performers! :-P

Michael's band is a 'big band', and they play a lot of 'standards' from the 40's and 50's... but they also played some more contemporary songs too. But rather than me describing it. Take a look at my video compilation:

As you can clearly see, Michael Wong is a pretty decent singer and he definitely works the crowd quite well.

Li-tong already did a great blog and a photo album with better pictures, but here's some of my pics:　写真も撮りました：

Since this was a concert to mark the release the new CD, he had a lot of friends in the audience, which definitely gave the show an intimate feeling (including making jokes about his friends, etc).

The event had a lot of sponsors and was also organized to raise money for a Breast Cancer group... Michael signs an oversized novelty check...

Speaking of oversized novelties, Samsung was another sponsor and gave Michael this cardboard cut-out of a phone. Hypothetically he can redeem that for a real phone after the show.

One guest singer I didn't get my video was Josie, who did a cover of a Beatles song with Michael and the band. here he is giving her a thank you present: an oversized cardboard cut-out of a Samsung phone.

I know he's been an actor for like 30 years, but the only movie I know Kenny Bee (鍾鎮濤) from is Stephen Chow's 1991 classic 'Fist of Fury 1991' (新精武門1991)

He got the crowd into it too, coming out to dance.

I was lucky, I got to hang out w/ two of the most attractive women there:

Li-tong and Ifat.

Ifat was quite popular, she even had guys coming up to take pictures with her:

"oh really? with me?"

These two guys were hilarious... in addition to telephone sponsors, there were also some alcohol sponsors, and these guys had done extensive sampling of the liquor and even went back for refills during the show.

They were almost as entertaining as the music.

Ooh I knew that Michael Wong was Russell Wong's brother. I don't think they look alike though.
