After the first dive on the barge (and the vomitting incident(s) ), we went over to a reef area off of Kahala, in Maunalau Bay... And then the nubes got ready to dive: Notice Mabel going over last minute diving instruction with the dive master...
We took a few extra minutes and then the rest of us went down to join them: Boon and Pat.
On the way down i tried to get a picture of the black things that were eating the puke... they are Black Triggerfish actually (wikipedia)
Down here there were just lots of rock formations covered with coral... and lots of fish swimming around.
I was having a lot of trouble equalizing during this dive, I spent a lot of time looking down on other people below while I was trying to get my ears to stop hurting... eventually most of it cleared up.
Here's my video from this trip, hopefully a bit better than the previous one: ビデオ見てください!
In the video you may have seen that huge school of fish having a feeding frenzy, here are some stills of that: この石下たべて居る魚一杯が在りました: Seems like there are at least 50-100 of these yellow things, and a few dozen of those black triggerfish mixed in too.
These are called 'Milletseed Butterflyfish' (link)
In all my attempts at taking pictures of fish with my underwater camera, none have come out very good. the fish don't hold still and rarely can you get one directly from the side. So far, i think this is the best one I've taken: luckily its also one of the coolest fish I've seen too. Called a 'Moorish Idol' (wikipedia - how's that for a weird name?) 前撮ったの魚写真全部あまり良くなかった、でもこれの方が良いと思います。
It was quite crowded down here, i think all 12 people were down at one point or another:
I think thats Kai
Mabel
I still act like i live in japan... :-P 僕はみぎですよ。。。
i just saw this, and i wanted to point out, i was on the back of that boat cuz i was about to participate in the fishfeeding portion of the activities... and also that after i decided to call it a nauseated day and lie out on the front while staring at the horizon, the 23 yr old came over to talk to me about his tattoos. =P but let's go scuba again soon! =)
I love it!
The visibility in Hainan wasn't good...
The first time for me to see the bottom of the sea from the surface was in Honolulu! Great memories...Really like your pics!
yes a class is a good choice, if you are going to be vacationing someplace warm you can arrange a certification course across a few days. (good excuse to go to hawaii again!)
thanks again for organizing that, etchy! scuba is awesome! tho my coral scrapes will take awhile to heal, but it's all worth it. =) would love to scuba again for sure. i guess i should consider a class huh? love the video! i was so busy with getting used to being down there and finding my balance most of the time i hope the next time i'll be able to focus completely on the cool aquatic animals and scenery!
That's amazing! so you're still in hawaii? i suppose most of the AnD guys have went back. i wanna try scuba sometimes, but i'm totally a terricolous animal. hehe
