Hawaii - pt. 7

part 7?!   wait a sec... if this was a seven day trip... and i was blogging once a day... that would mean this is the last day of the trip!   doh!

we're heading to the airport at 5am (which is about 4 hours from now!)

today we didn't do that much,  got a late lunch at a 'local' restaurant and hit up some shops (i spent the whole time at border's reading about 'Iron Man' the movie and 'Heroes'...)



Boon and I went down to Waikiki and hung out on the beach for a little while,  just to check it out and get some last minute sun(burn) in...

Of course I saw a lot of japanese tourists... there was also a huge group of high school kids on some kind of group trip.  There had to have been like 200 of them travelling in a long line down the street.  A bunch of them were making those 'eeeeehhhhh?!?'  sounds when they encountered the robot man:

many a cellphone picture was taken, to memorialize his silver antics...

(let the record show that I have actually seen a similar guy doing this one on the street in Japan before...)


but the single coolest thing was at night at the film festival.  We went to see 'The Rebel' and also Duc Luu and I sat in on a symposium with some of the filmmakers.

What made it cool was this:

not sure if you can tell, but Dustin was bustin' out our Alive/THK t-shirt!

Dustin is a really cool guy,  we spent like 20+ minutes talking about the success of 'The Rebel' in Vietnam and the growth of their film market and industry.  Its really interesting especially when you compare and contrast it to HK and the Mainland...
