mccain = mcsame is so obvious in terms of country steering style! the only thing mccain cannot get close is on BUSHISMS... gah!
(and of course there is the internal connections with corporations and other risky businesses/agendas that the bush family has....)

ah I see, yeah the feeling in the UK is that McCain is pretty much going to be like Bush.

I dunno, Canada's got it's share of fun- parlez vous Quebecois?

I think Bush & co were motivated more by the neocon's thinking of "everyone will join the party once they see we're right, no matter how much we act like asses."

Joanne - yeah,  its limited to two terms since FDR,  but many are claiming that McCain's real name is 'McSame', and he'll be 'the 3rd bush term' (but of course they're saying that because bush is unpopular...) ;-)

Race - i don't think he's motivated by personal greed,  its more of a callous disregard for the consequences of their actions to preserve or promote their own view of the world.

At least he can't get re-elected now. That's right isn't it, in America a maximum term of 8 years is all that's allowed right?.

i don't understand how someone can ever think that their own life is soooo much more important than the others. For himself to be richer and more powerful, he's sacrificing hundreds of thousands of lives.

Oh, I definitely remember those promises, about no nation-building, about being humble but powerful, about gaining respect in this world.  I thought, that's sensible, but it's a hard thing to do when you see cultural genocide (excluding of course Rwanda where we did nothing under Clinton's watch...).  But I respected him for the philosophy, at least.  And then 9/11 happened and he went in reverse faster than you can scream CHARGE!

Here's an online Frontline episode called Bush's War.  If you want to see something which gives you a complete and mind-blowing chronology of the lead up to and the aftermath of the Iraq War, please watch it.  It's totally infuriating.

The other funny thing to review is all the State of the Union addresses where Bush promises to invest in alternative fuels and reduce our dependence on oil.  Those are hilarious.  In every one of them.

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

no matter how he said it, apparently the country has been fooled twice already (aka 8 years)! so, shame on whom? :b

will it happen one more time!?
