Movie:

Night Watch (2005)

The night before i flew back to HK, we popped in a DVD off of eyeh's Netflix called 'Nightwatch', a Russian supernatural/sci fi type movie. According to wikipedia it is the highest grossing movie in Russia.... 70 years of communism has apparently negatively impacted their ability to judge what is a good movie and what is not... this is NOT a good movie. Once we figured out what was going on (its actually more of a blade/evolution type supernatural movie than real sci fi), it looked like it COULD turnout to be halfway decent. but the end was totally lame. 2/10...

one of the (unintentionally?) funny scenes...

and Dr. Zhivago (the movie, not the book... of course the movie wasn't made in Russia and had no Russian people in it... but Zangief is fake too...)

Ha, the only good thing that's come out of Russia is Zangief from street fighter.

third one is rumored to be called 'dusk watch'... the bizarre thing is that since Searchlight pics bought the distribution for the first two, they are going to be helping to make the 3rd one in the US, in ENGLISH!?!

i was so excited to watch this originally. caught it in the theatres. needless to say.. EXTREMELY disappointing.. i can't see how people can watch the next 2 movies in the trilogy. no, thank you. no more. isn't the second one called day watch or something? wonder what the third one will be called...

man, I totally agree. We watched it in beijing last year. i was really excited to see it.

I can't say that i understand what in the hell it was about. Honestly I tried to watch it 5 times.

It was made of some sort of Eastern Block thinking patterns that I can't discern. Just like "Turkish Star Wars" the logic is not human. (you need to see that BTW, worst movie ever. best movie for really drunk people)

The sequel "Daywatch" just played in SF down the street...I passed.
