Tokyo Oct 08 - Winds of September

You may not be able to tell from my blogs, but last week's trip to Tokyo was actually to attend the Tokyo International Film Festival and its 'TIFFCOM' film market portion.  

I attended several days worth of events (one of which was in this blog),  but to be honest I only went to ONE screening.  It was for Tom Lin's "Winds of September" -- which some of you may know is the first of three 'coming of age' films produced by Eric Tsang. There's one from Taiwan, one from HK and one from Mainland China.  The HK version is 'High Noon', which we are helping to promote here on alivenotdead.com

I've already written a separate blog for a review for Winds of September,  but here's some pictures from the Q and A they did after the film:



It was a bit confusing, the interviewer/MC was Japanese, but the interviewees only spoke Chinese during the interview, so they had a 2nd translator translating from Japanese to Chinese,  they ALSO had a 2nd translator to go from Japanese to English (so basically any English translation of the artist's statements was 2nd hand...)

But luckily Etchy can speak Chinese AND Japanese. :-P
(actually through listening to the various translations of the answers, I realize my listening comprehension in Chinese is still much higher!)

It was the producer's birthday, so they gave her flowers:



the director is on the left, the two guys in the middle are actors from the film, the other two are producers.


I just read on last Thursday that Winds of September was nominated for THREE Golden Horse Awards! Congrats!
