Hellboy and the carnival

I went to see Hellboy 2 this weekend - despite the fact I've never seen Hellboy 1 or even know what the story behind it was... anyway, I was convinced to go and I was not disappointed!  I think it helps that I went in with no expectations.  I'm a huge fan of Pan's Labyrinth and I was surprised to find out that Hellboy 2 was directed by Guillermo del Toro.  The cinematography, visuals, and the monsters were simply amazing.  It was so unreal and real at the same time, if that even makes sense... I guess it was... surreal..haha!  Anyway, if you want a visually stunning movie, go see Hellboy 2!

The carnival is back in town and I spent Saturday hanging out, eating mini donuts (yum) and enjoying the shows.  There was a cirque de soleil - esque show there - called the Birdhouse Factory and it was a delight to watch!  A lot of miming, juggling, acrobatics, and such - very neat stuff!  Afterwards, I went over to a friend's house and had some good old fashioned home cooked meal... and rounded off the evening with a round of Mah-jonhg!

I'm going to see The Dark Knight this coming Friday because I wanted to avoid the crowds!
