Last week, I organized a dinner get together for a bunch of my high school friends.  I used FB events since it seems like EVERYONE is on FB nowadays.  Anyway, I think 30 people ended up getting invited either by me or others but I thought that by now, people would have the courtesy to RSVP etc.

Much to my dismay, my initial time of 6:30 was not good for a lot of people so at their request, I changed the event to drinks/dessert starting at 9:00.

Fast forward to tonight - a grand total of 3 people said they could come... 1 person said they might come, and the rest decided not to reply at all.

At the very last minute, around 8:30, I checked the event page one last time to see if any one else RSVP'd.  I was greeted with a message that one of the girls didn't feel like coming out at the last minute...

I should have known - back in high school, everyone was wishy washy when it came to events.  No one planned anything and if there was something planned, it would end up like this - time changes to accommodate others only to find out they were using flimsy excuses to say no.  ( I honestly won't be offended if you say no...)  Anyway, I thought by now, everyone's an ADULT... they should have common courtesy to let me know earlier whether they intend to show up or not.

In the end, it was just me and 2 others that showed up... at least some people showed up.  One of the guys basically said that our friends have been in school for so long that they don't even understand the basic social rules.... yikes

I just know now not to ever organize anything like this again...

    yea that sucks...

my friend and I got together today and this was something we talked about... organizing something like that is hard and it takes a lot of time and effort and yet people don't appreciate it... =(

but I'm glad at least two friends showed up... =)

Sorry to hear that.  I guess It not just people I know who behave in this manner.  Now you know.

i remember trying to organize a mini "reunion" for my junior high school class (since i was valedictorian)... everyone i talked to was wishy washy so at the end, i just didn't bother...

seriously, i realize that the people i want to keep in touch with... i'm already in touch with!

Oh, that's bad. Sometimes with wishy-washy people, you have to reach out to them numerous ways and numerous times. Of course, there's a point when you have to leave it be - the ball's in their court. I guess if (if!) you should plan anything else in the future, you should lower your expectations on who will attend.

Aw Yvonne sorry it didn't turn out great. It's never easy to accept the fact that some still haven't gotten rid of their high school attitude. They could of at least left you a message.
