  • I won!!!

    Some friends and I went to see the horse races in Happy Valley for the first time tonight. We booked a table at Adrenaline, a lounge overlooking the racetrack.

    On the 6th race, I decided to place a bet for the fun of it. I knew nothing about betting on horses so I studied the horses' stats sheet. I decided to bet on 2 horses in the Quinella Place pool, where I'd win if BOTH my horses place in any of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places. The race begins, I cheer for my horses. GO #4 Elfhelm and #12 Happy Crusader!!

    The race ends, #12 places 2nd, and #4 places 3rd... which means... I WON!!!!
    I WON, I WON, I WON!!! *doing happy dance*

    Dang, too bad I bet so low... I only bet the minimum amount of $10 HKD, and won $78.50. Yeah I know, I'm such a high roller. ;P... Oh well, I'm just super happy that I actually won on my first try. Woohoo! =D I think there was only one other person in our group of 20 people that actually won a race tonight, so I did pretty well, right?

    Uh... yeah, this was meant to be blurry & abstract.... Darn camera... but it came out kinda cool, no?

    Evance and I did that once, it was quite fun.  My uncle got us into one of those VIP things so we sat up where those windows are and had dinner while betting.  I think my cousin and I both won like $100 HK :).  Anyway, you gonna come back and visit for the holiday?

    hehe... i used to be a big fan... then got really into it... then lost a lot...

    then i picked up a bunch of books to "study" it, written by pros.

    in the end... i decided there was no way i could possibly win. so haven't been at the tracks forever...

    congrats! i haven't been to the racetracks before and i don't really gamble/ play... but it sure sounds exciting! heehee...

    I've never gone to the racetracks before. Thanks for showing us what it's like in there. Definitely on my to do list.

    Hey Congrats, it may be beginner's luck or it may be skill, but who cares, you won!!!. Still a nice little return considering you only bet $10.

    HAHA, I've won before too!  I was working on a filmshoot at a racecourse near New York City. We won like 20 dollars and people kept yelling at us and told us we could have bet more! It was so awesome when the horses make the last dash and the entire crowd goes crazy!

    that's awesome!  percentage wise, that's a great return, even it's only $78.  it's too bad we weren't able to make it.  hopefully next time.

    Beginner's luck! :)  It looks like a fun time and even better that you won.  I'm a "high roller" like you.  I'm not big on gambling but I like to play a little just for the fun of it.  I like the blurry photo - it's cool.

    Oh, that's great!  LOL, congrats! =)

    I went to the race track once in HK.... Ladies Purse Day, but never bet on any horses.  Haha, next time I'll take a chance.  =D

    the pictures are great... the second pic looks like the horses were fake... kinda interesting... it looks like the horses on the games at the arcade..

    but love the color contrast from the green... looks really cool... ;)

    Congrats! We've always talked about going to the tracks here, but never got around to it. One of my old friend's dad was like the #2 top horse trainer in HK. But, I think he retired years ago. Nice PhotoShop blur on the 3rd pix. :)

    YAY!!! Pretty track, though it's hard for me not to feel bad for any animals used for sporting purposes,lol I'm such a Northwest liberal :)

    It's so weird to see the horses running clockwise like they do in England!  Our horses run counterclockwise around the track....makes for faster track times!

    And if you believe that, I've got a perfect piece of property for you to buy in the Ookeepanokee swamp, er, I mean, lake!
