RTHK Morning Brew and Pizza Corn

I was walking down the street yesterday and when I passed Pizza Hut I suddenly remembered what I need to tell people when they ask me what surprises me about living in Hong Kong.

Pizza corn.

Corn is a common pizza topping and it comes standard on personal pizzas at Pizza Hut. It’s surprising and sometimes disappointing. Didn’t corn come from the Native Americans? And didn’t pizza come from Italy? How do these two come together in Hong Kong? I’m thinking about this today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t thinking about it during my Radio Television Hong Kong Morning Brew radio interview with Phil Whelan yesterday. Instead, when asked what surprises me about Hong Kong, I said something generic and very forgettable.
