  • 《96°C 咖啡》- The Role

    2013-05-07 9:41PM / 標準BLOG

《96°C 咖啡》is my latest work to hit the TV screens in Singapore - debuting on 29 April, and playing every Monday - Friday, 9PM, on Channel 8. For those who cannot wait for the next episode, you can also subscribe to Toggle-It-First on www.toggle.sg!
Not since 《難兄爛弟》(2009), have I had a recurring role on local TV dramas, so this can be considered a new beginning for me - of sorts. And since 《96°C 咖啡》marks many firsts for Singapore's one & only TV station, MediaCorp, I'm honored to be part of the cast.
This series is MediaCorp's first multi-platform drama, starting with 8 webisodes as a sort of prequel to the televised drama. Behind-the-scenes footage, interesting interviews, and cute merchandise all serve to draw viewers to connect more with this idol drama, complete with the latest cutesy Korean-inspired looks & fashion.
I especially like my imaging in this drama - a different look to what I've had before in previous dramas.
My character is Xiuli 秀麗, a conservative finance department executive, working under my Boss, AVP Xu Ruolin (Chris Tong 童冰玉), one of the leads in this series. Playing a conservative character is slightly difficult for me, since I don't think I embody the word "conservative" in any manner, but hey, that's why it's called acting! (:
Also having worked with the same colleagues over a period of time, I'm happy to have made new friends, among them are Angel Yeung (who plays Apple), and Celeste Khoo (who plays the very bitchy Ada).
I shall end this entry with a few screenshots from Episode 1 - the introduction of our characters.
Oh, I was also very happy to work with Priscelia Chan 曾詩梅 again. She is one of the kindest, gentlest, most generous and friendliest actresses I have ever worked with.
    Until next time!
  • Exposed! Rogue Lawyer

    2013-04-27 3:31PM / 標準BLOG

In the recent episode of "Exposed!: Rogue Lawyer", as mentioned in my previous entry, I played the sales assistant, Lynn Lim. David Rasif, the rogue lawyer, bought diamonds before running away from Singapore. And I was one of the jewelry shop assistants who served him.
Took some screenshots from the episode.
My manager & I were in the lawyer's office, making a jewelry presentation, and discussing prices with David Rasif.
We agreed on the price of S$1.6million for the diamonds that he was about to purchase.
You can see how happy we were. In my mind, I was already calculating the commission I would receive - thousands of dollars worth.
I guess my manager was pretty happy too.
Especially when David Rasif came to the shop the next day, to inform us he had done the transfer, and the money was in our accounts.
David Rasif is still at large today, and he has been on the run for the past 7 years. He's also on Interpol's Wanted List. I sometimes wonder why people would go to this extent for money - even giving up his family, his life here, everything he ever had. Is it really worth it?
I guess there're different circumstances for everyone. Not that I'm validating his crime, but the temptations are always there - the difference is whether you act on them.
That's why I like acting. Because I can make different choices & choose different, even criminal, paths in the stories I portray. I can live different lives. Maybe it's a slightly warped way of thinking, but I'm probably never going to be a prostitute, murderer, or a mafia leader's daughter in my real life, so why not experience all these lives onscreen, or onstage?
  • Exposed! Behind The Scenes

    2013-04-23 5:51PM / 標準BLOG

Catch me tonight, April 23, on "Exposed!", at 10PM on Channel 5. And no, I won't be exposed, at least not in that sense (get your mind out of the gutter!)  "Exposed!" is a docu-drama series based on real-life cases of frauds, crimes & scams in Singapore. Tonight's Episode 2 focuses on David Rasif, a lawyer who absconded with millions of dollars, and who is still at large today.
So, hi there, my name is Lynn Lim. And I was a real character in this commercial crime case. Unfortunately, I was one of the victims (?) in this man's criminal plan, so watch the episode to find out more.
Channel 5 seems to love docu-dramas & crime-themed dramas, from "Crimewatch" to "True Files" "Point of Entry" (which stars HK's Carl Ng - some of you may be familiar with him). So this is yet another new docu-drama which tries to investigate crimes in our little island. Pretty ironic, considering Singapore is generally considered a safer city than most. Still, I'm waiting to see if there ever will be a day when Singapore produces a quality series similar to "CSI" or "Numbers"
Well, beside me is Will, who plays Thomas - my boss in the story. We filmed this back in January - February, and I met lovely people on set. This was while I was filming "96˚C Cafe" with MediaCorp's Channel 8 as well (more on this in a later blog entry), so the makeup & wardrobe unit were probably pretty familiar with me by that point. For those not familiar with the Singapore scene, MediaCorp is basically Singapore's version of Hong Kong's TVB - the one & only TV station in Singapore.
These photos were taken by Mohd Sani, a DP who is currently on another production I'm working on as well. So big thanks to him for the photos!

"Exposed!" - Tonight (April 23) at 10PM on Channel 5.

  • “拋物線” - Indulging in my Hobby.

    2013-04-17 6:53PM / 視頻

Being a freelance actor & production crew, there are busy periods.... And then there are lull periods. So during those breaks, instead of twiddling my thumbs, I indulge in my hobby. Or rather, hobbies - singing, playing the guitar, and making videos.
Making covers is purely something I enjoy doing, and not a way to show off (because really, my performances are average, at the best), and so I'm happy to record the songs I love. Am working on a couple of other songs at the moment, so perhaps when I have the time, I'll make another one. Although, really, I'd rather much be working. ^_^
    Meanwhile, enjoy!
  • First Step Again. To Taiwan

    2013-04-02 6:03PM / 標準BLOG

In less than a month's time, I'll be going to Taiwan. In the meantime, I'm still looking for more work in Singapore whilst keeping an eye out for opportunities over there. 不到一個月後,我即將到達台灣。雖然我還在新加坡找更多演繹工作,但我也在留意台灣的圈內機會。
The road is still long, and the journey far to go, but this is yet another first step. 路途仍然遙遠,我還有很長的路要走,但這總算是再一次踏出第一步。
