Juste Debout Japan 2009 part 2: popping

The popping competition was just CRAZY.
Most of the best poppers of the world where there: Salah (Fr, he was also in the locking competition), Acky (JP), Kei & Gucchon (Co-thkoo, JP), KITE & Fishboy (JP), Pepito & Djidawi (FR) (not sure that they're that well known but, man, they're damn good). And many others from Korea, France, Switzerland, Germany,...

Let's start by a beautiful example of fairplay (don't know if I should use that word but still). KITE had qualified in Japan with another great popper called Madoka. Unfortunately for some reason I don't know Madoka couldn't make it. Where most dancers would have probably just asked to change partner, he and Fishboy actually said they would re-enter qualification instead. So they entered the qualifiers in Paris on Saturday 28. Rules are different then other as more spots are available but also the level is much higher than other qualifiers as most big names just wait for that day to show up.

The competition started with KITE é Madoka against some French or Italian poppers and the Japanese won difficultly. But the show of the first round was Co-thkoo (last year's champion and 2007 finalists) Vs Acky (last year finalist) & a Swiss guy, won by Co-thkoo.
The last battle was Pepito & Djidawi Vs 2 Korean girls (Best of Best). The French won by judges decision but the public and, I believe, Bruce, the organizer though that the Koreans should have won. (though after seeing the rest of the competition it was probably the best for the show but still).
Other memorable battles were Salah's duo against Pepito & Djidawi. exceptionnal battle that saw Papito & Djidawi won once again.
And of course the final between Co-thkoo and KITE & Fishboy. They decided that the final should be only freestyle and therefore that they would do no combination (that's what they are discussing at the beginning).
But I'll let you watch that one, instead of giving an idea.
