    Last weekend I watched Lea Salonga's concert here in HK.

    I'm sure everybody into musical theatre knows her. She originated the role of Kim in "Miss Saigon". Not only was she the first Asian to play Eponine and later on Fantine in "Les Miserables" on Broadway, but she was also the singing voice in "Mulan" and Princess Jasmine in "Alladin". She's the most well known Philippina in and outside of the Philippines

      

     

    "Miss Saigon" and "Blood Brothers" were the first musicals I watched in the West End. I was about 12 years old then. I was sold! Musical theatre gives me goosebumps in a good way!

    After years and years of listening to the soundtrack of Miss Saigon, it was amazing to finally hear her live. Every single note was sung to perfection and with so much feeling...She'll be back in Hong Kong with "Cinderella" so if you didn't get to see her concert, here's another chance! She's an inspiration to especially the Asian women.

    I've been fortunate to see her in concert 3 times most recently in January in California.  I will be seeing her again in April and will also be going to the Philippines to see her in Cinderella.

    I was fortunate to catch her in Singapore when I was fifteen years old and got to hear her sing live.  Wonderful voice..  Oh yes, she has a very protective mum too who follows her whenever she travels.

    I'd give anything to see Miss Saigon again, I was so young when I first saw it. Lea has an amazing voice, I remember her singing from Mulan, didn't member it was her at the time. I'd love to see her in Cinderella.

    ha,  part of it is the fact that pat and i went to the premiere event in burbank back when he was doing projects w/ Disney (2 companies ago),  we stood outside and saw almost all of cast and a lot of other stars...

    waaaaaaahhhh!!! Lucky u! I saw her in Miss Saigon and Les Miserables when she was over this part of the world... love her voice...!

    Ah, Etchy, you're right! She didn't do the speaking part. Will change that in my blog now! I got a bit confused there as her concert was called: Lea Salonga, the voice of Mulan.
    Very impressed with your knowledge of musicals and Disney! ;)

    WOW ~ I LOVEDD her in miss saigon ~ but I did not know that she was the singing voice for mulan and that she did les miserables too..I didn't see her in les miserables- since I only saw non-asian cast when i saw that one lol....

    God no wonder her voice was SO silky smooth in those movies! I was especially fond of Mulan's voice! Ba-dayum! hehe...Good job! Thanks for sharing!
