My mother is back from Easter island. She is a REAL world traveller. She went to Mexico, Tibet, China, Tahiti and Chile this year. I wanted to go to Easter island ages ago. I have changed my mind when I heard the Moai was the symbol of unluck. If you touch it, you will get unluck. I think the story was made because it was said many people died and were buried under Moai. Plus its moust be a protection of Moai itself from bad tourists.

By the way my mother is a surgeon too. She has her own clinic. When she goes abroad, I have to work hard instead of her. That is why I couldn't blog lately.

From now on I blog in English and Japanese. I heard some members on here are learning Japanese. I hope this would help them. The problem is ....when I write in English, I think in English. When I write Japanese, I think in Japanese. So 2 blogs might not be the exactly same.

母がイースター島から帰ってきました。彼女は本当に世界中を旅していて、今年はメキシコ、チベット、中国、タヒチ、チリへ行っています。私は昔、イースター島へ行きたいと思っていました。でも、気が変わったのはモアイが不幸のシンボルだと聞いてからです。触ると、不幸がついてくる。この話は、たくさんの人が死んでモアイの下に埋められているということからきていると思います。プラス、モアイそのものを悪い旅行者から守るためでしょう。

ところで母も外科医で、自分の診療所を持っています。彼女が海外にいるときは、私が変わりに頑張って働かなければいけません。だから最近、ブログが書けませんでした。

これからは英語と日本語の両方でブログを書きます。このサイトのメンバーのなかに日本語を勉強している人たちがいると聞きました。彼らの助けになれればと思います。問題は・・・英語で書くときは英語で考え、日本語で書くときは日本語で考えていることです。２つのブログは全く同じものにはならないかもしれません。

お母様、素敵ですね。お母様がいろんなところに行けるのも、MIOさんの協力あってのことだと思いますが。
そんな私の母は全くかなわないのですが、しかし、一般的にはこんなのをブッ飛んでる人をいうのだと思います。実家に電話してお母さんに変わってと父に言ったら、「今、ちょっとハワイに行ってるけど」と。はあー？ですよ。

I've been trying to write in Chinese first and then translate what I have into English because it's just harder for me to get the discipline to translate my English blogs back into Chinese.

i don't believe that curse stuff... they say the same thing about taking volcanic rocks from hawaii... BS to keep the tourists from damaging stuff.
