I went to a new women's spa "Saltasia". It's located in Omotesandou. The "salt studio" features rooms covered -- floor, walls and ceiling -- with hexagonal tiels of pure white salt.

I got a sample of the tile. Yes, it is salt defo! I licked it.  :P

Salt has a very high sterilizing effect, resulting in a completely hygienic surrounding. There are also cultural reasons. In Japan, salt has been used not joust as a flavoring agent, but also in purification rituals. We use salt to cleanse the body and soul. For example, we use salt after a funeral ceremony, sumo wrestlers toss it into the dohyo.

The treatment rooms are kept at 41℃ and 45% humidity. That's the precise environment where the body sweats naturally without stress.

Warm your body...simply by sitting in a room. Have you ever heard of Heat Shock Protein(HSP)? It's a kind of protein everyone has and you can get it after "heat shock" stress. This protein works for many things, lower your blood pressure, improve your metabolism and immune system. It also works for muscle aches.

I had 2 hours dance lesson the next day I went to spa. I felt less muscle pain than usual. It worked!! The easiest way to get HSP is taking a bath. The professor of Aichi university says we should take a bath at least twice a week, 41-42℃ for 10 minutes.

    Be healthy!

i am suspicious of that research... I often hear results like that... Japanese universities who research the health benefits of some traditional japanese activity like Onsen,  etc.

They have a pre-conceived conclusion (that onsens or baths are good for your health) and then they find some test results to prove it.  To me it gets fishy when 'nationalism' and 'traditional culture' are mixed in...

The Koreans do the same thing about the health benefits of Kimchi and the Chinese do it with traditional chinese medicine therapies... (acupuncture,  herbal tea, etc).

    ...so I don't necessarily believe it.  ;-)

We don't need to add salt to our bath, do we?

Mio! What do you do to your eyelashes to get them like that? Long and curled? Not mascara, right?
