  • Twestival in HK with N™

    2009-02-12 11:04AM / 標準BLOG

As this is a blog and more often then not, I fail to blog of anything of any relevance, I would like to take this moment to mention something that actually exists and is not purely a figment of my imagination. Although I am not completely informed, I am led to believe the line goes as follows:

On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

That said, I seem to be participating in Twestival performing with N™ here in Hong Kong which is being held at Yumla which just so happens to be one of the few places in HK worth hanging out, not to mention the sound system there is one of the best I have heard in my travels across this planet. Anyways long story short...Twestival... Hong Kong... Tonight... Charity... Buy ticket... You won't go to hell.

  • Shoe Strüng

    2009-01-29 4:12PM / 標準BLOG

Recently I have been spending more time relearning applications for music.  Actually I never knew them, I was old skool back in the day with 4 track tape recorders and and then an 8 track hard drive recorder. Shortly after, everything was stolen and I resigned it to the fate of the music gods.  I guess I sucked.  A decade or so later I have started to delve back into the world of music, specifically in the computer environment.  I decided to post 4 tracks that have come out of my adventures under the moniker Shoe Strüng (don't ask).  These are ongoing projects and some will hopefully turn into collaborations but for me I need to put them to rest and stop obsessing about them.  The songs are produced to the best of my abilities and let it be known I am not a beat man. My brain doesn't work well with beats unfortunately.  I am also well aware that these songs in the hands of someone who knows what they were doing, would sound much better.  That said...

Hope someone hears something they like:)

So the Year of the Ox has arrived. Happy New Years (the two I know of and any I may have missed) to everyone! The adventures have winded down for now, I have a few new RED projects in the works for a projected March/April time frame. I will post more as I know but in the meantime, if anyone is bored, feel free to check out my blog to see other projects work and life related that I have my hands in. If not, then stay here :) Stay tuned....

  • The Cotai Show

    2009-01-05 11:28AM / 標準BLOG

This is something I was working on before the start of the holidays. The task was to create an animated show opener for a show called "The Cotai Show". I was asked to create it in HD. I have grown completely lazy with the state of computers today as they are much faster then they used to be. I no longer incorporate RAM/CPU saving techniques into my process as most of the stuff I do is in SD (standard definition). I learned the hard way quite fast with this project, that I had to re-learn the process for HD as not long after starting my project, the shit kept breaking my computer. After about the 5th crash I had to suck it up and start being smarter about how I laid it out. Anyways... below I have the finished product and a little making of vid showing the steps. This is by far no master piece but I enjoy seeing the process from start to finish as the process with animation is very different to doing post for videos. Everything is very self contained and of course if anything goes wrong, I am usually the only one to blame :p

For anyone wondering, the tasks included: acquiring the images, extracting the content, translating them to layered vectors, incorperating them into an animated timeline, stylizing and combining background elements and titles (with lots of glows, shines and flares cuz the clients love those things) and creating a score for the track that the client could have full rights too. The apps used were: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects & Logic.
