• The Internship Begins

  First a little story:
  
  Many years ago, a friend of mine began to train me the basics of Wing Chun, she taught me how to develop softness yet firmness in my punches.  I remember that first time she told me to punch the sand bag attached to the wall, I had used too much energy and my stance and back were not proper.  She then began to show me how you train punches according to what she knew and began to show me a simple technique and punched the bag, there was no strength, no forceful power, just good technique.  She told me, "there is no need to rush...by understanding your body and how to stand-good form, power will come naturally."  I always remember what I had learned through this experience...and how little by little I began to see the results every time someone asked me to throw a punch out!  By focusing on your craft and fine tuning it each moment you set out to practice is in itself a great achievement!  And it keeps you focus attentive on your goal in mind!
  
  I applied this to my other loves: filmmaking and acting
  
  Over the summer I had answered an ad off a website that sometimes has opportunities and sometimes nothing.  It said film production company needs interns.  I answered right away! 
  
  And then I got a response back right away and it was from Bey Logan.  I knew about Bey while still back in Minnesota, USA.  My brother an avid fan of Hong Kong films and my biggest role model growing up had books Bey had written or been part of and I had seen documentaries and other films that Bey was part of too.
  
  
  
  
  I knew if there was one person in HK that knew about the film industry it was Bey.  As excited as I was about this opportunity I didn't want to expect too much...so to remain in focus one line in the intern description always helped, "read scripts" I knew that no matter what I wanted to read scripts and learn. 
  
  And thus it began...
