    I spent the morning in Wan Chai taking my nursemaid Gaga out to dim sum. As I went back to her place, a small room in Wan Chai, I decided to videotape her.

    She is an 84-year-old virgin, truly I believe.

    She's from the generation of "self-brush" women who decided to go to work as a girl rather than marrying a man. She came to work for my family before she turned 20, and she didn't leave us until she retired around 62 when we left for Canada.

    I was sincerely grateful for her, but I also felt sad that she had not had a romance that I knew of.

    The "Brushed Up" ladies are proud to be virgins.  So I guess she does not feel sadden not have any romance.

    "Brushed Up" is a horrible thing (IMO) but they were conditioned to feel honored and loyal to serve their masters / ladies and their families.

    Almost like the English butlers.

    watching her makes me feel sad.. trust is just myself getting too emotional.. but.. does she feel 'enough' in life?.. wonder what were the thoughts that had crossed her mind as she age.........

    No... I don't think she ever had one. She is totally clueless about sexuality... I think. She is only has female friends her age.

    She seems like a wonderful woman and as I've said before you can see how much you care for her. You can also see how much see cares for you and your family.
    You can tell alot about a person's character by how they treat their elders, but more importantly how they treat all elders.
    All of our elders have so much love and wisdom and anyone would be a fool not to spend as much time as they can with them and try to soak up as much knowledge as possible. What they can teach us will never be found in a history book or in school.

    ps on a side note....I hope she played the lottery and won!! :-)

    the "self-brush" woman is such an interesting topic. would love to see a whole documentary about it :)
