went to shanghai over the weekend. stopped and ate at popeyes on my way there (as i often do). it's pretty good and i get to watch old popeyes cartoons at the same time.

one thing that i've always wondered about is .... why don't they serve spinach? seems really strange to me considering the entire show and character is based around him eating spinach!

i've been trying to think of a good analogy and the best i could come up with is .... it's like opening up a cookie monster's desserts chain and not serving cookies.

if someone knows the answer to this question, please let me know!

I always liked spinach. Probably didn't hurt that I heart Popeye.

Because some people have allergy to spinach... like me. The sight of spinach makes me vommit... I've psychologically allergy to spinach. Yea, that's right, its psychological. No reason. I see, I throw up. Horrible horrible feeling. It gives me goosebumps... just like Lotus root...! These veg... have strange smell. Its far from yummy for me!!! Keep them far far away from me!!!

Popeye's is named after Jimmy "Popeye" Doyal from "The French Connection" not the sailor man.

I seem to remember that Popeye's fried chix is not really named after the sailor, but another movie character.

There is a Popeye's in Hong Kong. From what I remember, it's in the Hong Kong airport. I know cuz I ate there just before I returned to Toronto just about 2 years ago.

Deep fried spinach balls filled with cheese... I would totally go for that! Crunchy on the outside and cheesy and spinach on the inside...

Personally, I think Popeye's makes better fried chicken than KFC but what really grinds on my nerves is thir goddamned sporks/spoon-forks. I can't enjoy my chicken properly with these things.

As for the spinach thing, I also don't think chicken would go good together with spinach. But they should serve spinach at some capacity. Spinach soup would actually be nice..

Popeyes Chicken probably didn't want to strike a deal with Popeye spinach to sell another company's spinach at their restaurants.

People in general don't like spinach (as a fast food), and its not as cheap as a lot of other veggies, I guess.

i say ppl would be disappointed finding out that spinach cannot make you buff after all! it would be shattering lil kids' dreams ;)
