• More Guizhou Bluescreen Craziness

  I've just received more crazy photos from the shoot of  《开心邦》 in Guiyang for Guizhou TV! I've posted them below. I'm also rather curious to see what this will all look like once the proper CGI backgrounds are added!

  

  Before tying me up, we do a technical run-through. I am to be tortured by the warrior women. There must be worse ways to go.

  

  With the run-through over, some of the crew are called in to do the hard work. Over the course of ten minutes I am bound to the stake with rope.

  

  The rope is not long enough so they get more. The actors wait patiently. The torturing doesn't start until I am fully tied up.

  

  The above is the position I have to hold for about half an hour for the scene. It's incredibly uncomfortable.

  

  Their swords drawn, I am tortured by the warrior women until I confess.

  

  The above was a fun little scene in which I had to wake up two people in their pyjamas for some morning exercise.

  

  In the above scene I show off my beautiful girlfriend (played by a man) to the lead characters. They are, surprisingly, not impressed. He DID look very much like a woman though!

  

  We rehearse for one of the skits set in imperial times. I am playing a foreign traveler staying at a traditional inn. For some reason my character's name is James Bond, something I never really understood. I wear my jacket during rehearsal because it is freezing! Looking over these photos now, you really can't take yourself too seriously as an actor!

  

  Dinner time: my character gawks at the thought of having cockroaches for dinner. I myself did not know they ate cockroaches in Guizhou! After shooting that day I headed out of town, back to Beijing, so I never did find out! If I do receive any photos from the show after the computer graphics have been added, I will definitely post them online.
