So, I've finally prepared my photos from the Auckland trip. Since I didn't really allow for a lot of time for a holiday, there aren't really that many pictures. But here are a few pics that sum up (mostly the first two days of) my trip. I went nuts with the camera on my first day, which was a good thing, cos didn't get many opportunities the other days.

On our second day, we met up with my cousin for lunch, and then my cousin and I went to the Skytower while my mum just went shopping. The ticket to the main observation in the Skytower was really expensive, but I figured it was my only chance, so I went for it:

In the main observatory. I also have a very long video of myself walking the perimeter of the main observatory, where they place glass panels on the ground so you can see the view below, but it's very, very long! Can't believe I didn't take a picture of that view!

We also went up to the Skydeck which was 220 metres high, but wasn't very interesting (luckily it was only an extra $3). My cousin asked me if I wanted to do the Skyjump or the Skywalk, but considering they were both outside the building, my fear of heights did not agree (I had trouble walking the perimeter when I was inside! My mum asked me why I could easily walk the concrete parts, but had so much trouble walking the glass panels, cos they were exactly the same - being able to see the ground below, that's why!).

My cousin picked us up the next day and we went into the suburbs, but I kinda think it was a waste of time, since my mum's sisters were working and there was no one to meet up with. In the end, we just went to a mall, then my mum went to see one of her sisters at work and my cousin took me to her place for a bit before driving me back out to the city.

On the Friday, I played bum and we went shopping for a bit, then returned to the hotel for a sleep til dinner. When we went shopping, we did come across a market, so we checked that out, and I bought some Kiwiana to remember Aotearoa by when I move to HK. I've been searching for some ever since I decided to move, but have never found anything that I just fell in love with until now. Forgot to take pics of them, but I bought a three-frame frame each with a different bone (dunno if it's really bone) carvings in front of kete (weaved basket) and two bone carving pendants. Might take pics of them tomorrow and show you guys.

I spent my whole weekend in the course, so it wasn't until Sunday night before I got to catch up with my ex-workmate, who had also been down in Wellington while I was in Auckland, and came back just in time for a quick catch up.

I also bumped into a friend that I'd completely forgotten had moved to Auckland on my first day there. We didn't get to catch up, but it was nice bumping into her. I had told another friend I was gonna be in town but when I texted her on the second or third day, she said she was heading out of town - I think everyone bunked when I told them I was coming!

We flew over Cook Strait on our way into Wellington and it was such a gorgeous site, and we were so close to the water (I swear the wing was only half a metre above the water whenever we turned), but I was worried about taking my camera out during the whole takeoff/landing parts of the flight that I didn't get any pictures. The sight was all the more gorgeous due to the fact that we never fly over Cook Strait when we land in Wellington.

So there you have it. My very uneventful trip to Auckland. One of my trainers did take lots of photos of us during the course, maybe I'll be able to get them off her (but I won't be sharing them here, sorry). Now all I gotta do is complete my electives and I'll be fully qualified to teach English in HK!
