  • Christmas party time!

Got my first Christmas card for this year just a moment ago. Can't believe it's almost Christmas. Why does time suddenly fly once you start spending most of your year working? In order to feed ourselves and make a living, we sacrifice the chance to really enjoy life. We spend so much of our time working and so often lately I've heard how fast the year has gone by. Gone are the days when Christmas was always so far away. Gone are the days when I had all the time in the world. Now it's already Christmas and I can hardly remember what's happened this past year.

Of course, there was my friend's wedding the beginning of the year. That was definitely a high point. And the course I went on in September (well, the in-class bit of it, anyway). I thoroughly enjoyed that and it's great to know that I've found something I love. Now it's just fingers crossed I find a job!

It's our Christmas do tonight. It's going to be very different to last year's one. Apparently, every year except last year, they've held it in the main foyer of our building. I guess I was lucky enough to attend one held off-site. They decided to bring it back into the building this year because it's the last year before they rebuild it. We made it an 80's theme cos that's when this current building was built (actually, I think it was built in the late 70's, but they decided to make it the 80's). I kept forgetting to search through my mum's clothes for an outfit, but when I called my sister today to ask her to bring me some stuff, I mentioned to her that we were having an 80's themed party at work and that I remember mum used to have a cream coloured, black polka dot jacket with shoulder pads so she ended up bringing that to me too. Haha, now I just gotta see if it fits and whether or not it works with the dress I'm wearing! I keep forgetting about this function so I'm not exactly gonna look my best tonight, but hopefully I'll still get in a few nice photos for you guys.

I know all I've done is moan and groan about this place and some of the people, and I still can't wait to get out of here, but there have been good times and I've made some good friends, so it's still got some positive memories.

Went to Christmas dinner at my uncle and aunty's new place on Sunday. We go every year on Christmas day, but this year, my mum really wanted to go to our friend's place for dinner this year, since we only ever get to have dessert with them on Christmas day. I guess the problem with Christmas is that everyone holds parties on that one day and there's too many to choose from. So we always went to dinner at our uncle and aunty's and dessert at the friend's. I was disappointed when I heard my mum talking to my aunty on the phone, especially since our cousins weren't there, but we'll get to see them all at our New Year's party. Haha, we have one family of friends who immediately assume we're having a party on New Years and one year, my mum was like, "party at our place!" and she was like, "no need to tell us, you have one every year!" Mum was like "woah, what if we didn't? Would you just turn up?" (Obviously, it's not how they speak and they spoke in Chinese, but you get the drift.) But my uncle and aunty have moved house, cos our cousins are all grown up and they live on their own, so most of their old house is untouched, so it was nice to go see their new place. I absolutely love their new place. Not so fond of the outside, cos I'm not much of a plant person, but their house is totally awesome. The master bedroom not only has an ensuite, but a walk in wardrobe. And they have an extra toilet next to their bathroom. They have more toilets than people in their home! They have an entertainment room, a conservatory, and a massive as living room. Everything was sort of redone by the old owners before selling, so everything's real new and beautiful. On top of that, they've got a plasma and My Sky HDI! Now I just need excuses to visit them!

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos, so I can't show you guys their gorge home.

Anyways, I leave you with a photo from last year's Chrismas dinner. Hopefully I'll have some from tonight for my next blog.
