Managed to get out to the Eumundi Markets today. Last night it rained, and this morning was pretty cloudy, and it was forecast for showers later in the day so my friends left an umbrella out for me. I had considered bringing some mini shorts with me (I wore ones which came down to just above the knee) but I couldn't fit both the shorts and the umbrella in my bag, so since it looked more likely to rain than be overly hot, I chose the umbrella over the shorts. You can probably guess.

I caught the 8:56am bus to Nambour. It should have gotten me to the stop about 15 minutes before the connecting bus to Eumundi. It was 10 minutes late at getting to the stop where I got on. And there was also a driver changeover. Add a few extra minutes during the ride, and basically, I just missed the connecting bus and had to wait an hour for the next one (and watch the 9:56am bus arrive - which meant I could have waited an hour before heading out).

Anyways, the Eumundi Markets were beautiful. I entered the one on the side where the bus dropped us off, which didn't have very much and the stuff was too exotic for me. I was seriously hoping this was the one my friend mentioned was the not-so-nice Eumundi Markets. I'd looked across the road when the bus had stopped, but it didn't look like a market, so I'd assumed the market was on the side we got dropped off. I think I just didn't look properly, or the bus was in the way or something, cos when I came back out of the market on this side, I saw a huge market across the road.

After buying a hat (I think I have about ten hats now, nine of which I left at home - hence the need for a new hat. However, this does include the three AnD hats) I called my mum, since I hadn't spoken to her since I got to Australia (I'd left texts with her and my family) and told her I had the day to myself and was spending it at the markets we didn't manage to get to when we came a year and a half ago (long story short, we spent most of that day on public transport as opposed to at the markets). A friend in Hong Kong just had a baby boy, and since she hadn't given birth while I was still in New Zealand, we didn't know whether to pack the boy gift or the girl gift, and since I couldn't really fit it anyway, we decided not to pack either of them, and to buy a new gift once we found out the gender. So mum told me to have a look around for something. Couldn't find anything at the markets, but will have a look around the shopping centres if I ever get to one before I leave.

Basically, I was too hot and sweaty to really appreciate the market. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so distracted by how hot I felt. The clothes would have looked much more appealing if I didn't feel like I would melt in them. I did get some relief when I sat down to get a caricature drawn. The drawing looks nothing like me, but at least I got to sit next to a fan for about ten minutes! I didn't want to admit I didn't think it looked anything like me, so I just paid for it and pretended I was happy with it.

I didn't have sunscreen, so I got a bit burnt. And I have a watch strap mark on my wrist. I haven't worn a watch in ages, but the Saturday before I left, I went to work in my dad's shop, cos my older sister and my brother, who normally work, were both unavailable that day, and I found a watch that I liked. Actually, I saw the watch ages ago, but never bought it. I figured since it was still there, and I still liked it, I may as well get it. So now I have a watch strap mark on my wrist. It's just one of those things which you don't want to happen, but you know it will happen and still don't do anything about. Yeah, that's me. I'm an indoors girl. I'm lazy and can never be bothered going out, so the only time I see sun is when I'm going to work or shopping or somewhere else that's most likely indoors. So I don't normally wear sunscreen. There are days I'm aware I'll need it, but it always feels so wasteful buying a tube of sunscreen for one day's outing. I generally put some on if the person I'm with has some and asks me to put some on.

Yeah, not very safety conscious. But it's not too bad. I don't get sore whenever I burn, just itchy.

I was just glad to get back onto the air conditioned bus. I wasn't too concerned with making the connecting bus this time, since I had a bit of time to get back to the house before the others returned. I popped over to the supermarket on my way back for some snacks and drinks.

I'd told my mum I would skype them tonight, but we went out for dinner and I completely forgot. Good thing I just happened to come online and noticed they were online once we got back from dinner.

All in all, a pretty good day. I'm still feeling rather hot. I did some repacking just before jumping into bed, so I'm a bit hot. At home, if I feel hot, I can just have a walk around the house, and I'll cool down immediately. Not here. So I came on here, to wait til I cool down before trying to sleep. I'm a little cooler. But only a tad. I'm gonna have to pay my friends back for using up all their data allowance.

Tomorrow, one of them has the day off, so we're gonna check out the views from the Glasshouse Mountains. Then Friday I gotta get all my dirty clothes washed and packed. Hopefully I can fit everything in!
