Oops!

So, my mum's back from HK. I don't know why, but I swear she wipes her memory clean on a holiday. Normally she doesn't need me to mention that I'm heading to the gym. Sometimes I go, sometimes I don't, but if I do go, it's always on a Tuesday and Friday. So I don't normally have to say a thing. And I'd call if I was heading out for anything other than the gym. But last night, since I didn't mention I was going to the gym, she assumed I didn't. If I'd gone somewhere else I would have called, cos obviously it's not what I normally do. So no one came to pick me up.

So I walk home. Halfway up my hill, a ute stops about 10 metres in front of me. Then, after a while, it starts to slowly roll backwards. I'm thinking it might be my best friend's dad, since he drives a ute. Instead, I see my brother and his friend (who also happens to be my friend's brother) smiling back at me. I get in the ute, and my brother's friend pushes on the accelerator. You can guess what happened next.

We called the AA (breakdown service) but since it's not my brother's friend's ute, he doesn't have the key to the gas tank, so they can't help him. He calls one person who might have the spare key, since the owners were out at some event. They don't have the key. After about 15 minutes since we first broke down, he decides he's going to go to the owner's house and get the key and come back, so we decide to call home to give him a ride. My brother sits on the hood of the ute and his friend tries to start it up while I call home.

And you can probably guess that it worked. Somehow, sitting on the hood of the ute helped. Personally I think it's just cos we gave the ute a little time to rest. But whatever. We got it working. He drove us home. It still sounded like it was ready to give up any second but he managed to get us to the bottom of our driveway, stopping only when we were facing downhill.
