LOL, I really wanted that Winter Fun profile theme.
Anyways, Opshop (myspace) played Saturday night. Awesome, awesome night. I have videos, but I might post them up later. Here's some of the night's photos for now. I didn't want the flash to go off, so they're pretty blurry photos.
I'm not much of a concert goer. But for some reason, when I saw the poster for Opshop, I wanted to go see it. Then, I saw the venue The Front Room, and couldn't be bothered finding out where it is. I'm such a slacker. Anyways, last Sunday, after church, we were walking out, and I saw a big sign saying The Front Room on the building next door. Looking back, I've probably seen it on there a million times, just never taken notice of it. Suddenly, I really, really, really wanted to see Opshop. So, I asked my sister to come along. She had a function to go to that day, so she said no. But I asked my brother and he doesn't like Opshop, so I was all upset, so my sister said she'd go. Her thing started in the afternoon anyway, so she had plenty of time at that before coming to Opshop. Actually, all her friends ended up leaving early, so she came and picked me up to go to the concert. I found it funny that she wasn't willing to park in the church carpark seeing as it was right next door. We ended up parking down the road. It started raining just as we left the concert, so we had to run to the car. Running past, I saw lots of cars parked in the church carpark. Smart people.
Autozamm, of whom I am unfamiliar with, were also playing. I thought they were only opening, but they performed for at least half an hour (well, technically the poster says Opshop and Autozamm, but still). Adding the 45 minutes before Autozamm played and the half hour to 45 minute set change in between the two acts and Opshop didn't come out til 10pm. It kinda sucked though, cos I dragged my sister along and she wasn't too happy. Plus, she demanded that we leave at 11:30pm cos she was on camera crew duty at church the next morning (I suggested she sleep in the car). Fortunately, at the end of the night when I asked her if it was worth it, she said yes. And the concert finished at exactly 11:30pm, so I didn't have to miss a thing (although, I couldn't stay around for autographs).
I also bought some nice little merchandise - nice warm hoodie, tank top, t-shirt for my sister, tea towel (apparently, but it was more of a print on cotten fabric, much nicer than a tea towel), and the souvenir edition of their current album. I saw an unfamiliar Opshop CD and asked the lady what that was but she said it was included in the souvenir edition, so I only bought the souvenir edition. Since I couldn't find any unfamiliar songs on the list of the souvenir edition (it comes with a DVD which she said had 17 extra tracks, so I assumed they were those, but they're just live versions of their current stuff), I decided to look it up and found out that the CD was their debut album. I didn't even know they had one before Second Hand Planet. Grr, now I gotta go to the CD store to get it.
Anyways, Opshop were awesome and I would love to see them play live again, but not sure if I'll ever get the chance.
