ASBC-roundtable February 2008 - introducing OCYT

This time we decided to held our roundtable at the Shangrila Restaurant, because the Bonsai Lounge gets to small and is a bit too noisy at Friday night. So last time we had big difficulties to understand the presentation because of a loud group of party people last time. We reserved the sepearte Karaoke-room of the restaurant and also got special permission to eat there. The room had just the right size and the atmosphere was relaxed. Unfortunately not as many guests showed up as last time and somehow I missed the atmosphere of the Bonsai Lounge.Let's see if we can establish this location as  a new place for roundtable or if we have to find another location...

At least we had the freedom to listen to a presentation about Taiwan and the recently founded association OCYT - Overseas Young Compatriot Talents, which I already mentioned before. Their goal is to promote and connect second generation overseas chinese speaking high potentials and expats here in germany by pointing out their multicultural and multilingual background as a competitve advantage for companies running and seeking for business in asia.  The  founders of the association will soon graduate from university and are really great. We decided to collaborate closely with them. We both are one of the few groups for young asians in and around Frankfurt (we already expanded to other cities like Berlin and Cologne and I'm sure they will do it as well). The other roundtables are usually bilateral and the audience isn't as young as ours. We just have to found an association by oursselves - at the moment we are just a community on the network Xing, which meets in real life.

Everyone's listing closely to the presentation about Taiwan. The presentation of the OCYT caused some discussions due to the exclusivness to chinese people, which was a misunderstanding because the count in also people from Malaysia and Indonesia..



After the presentations everyone got up and started to talk to each other.

Say also hello to some cute inhabitants of the Shangrila  - they have several aquariums there. They gathered in one corner of the aquarium and smiled into the cam .

As you can see from the pics - most of our guest were from asian origin, which I always consider as a success!!
