Up to now the ASBC (Asian Social Business Community) is not a registered association, only a community on the platform Xing, which causes us some troubles when we want organize events, because we are not allowed to handle money. And Xing limits also our expansion to other cities, because you can only register a limited number of moderators, as well as the organization of relief projects, due to the reason mentioned above.
Now that Michael, the founder of the ASBC has found a new job and has some more time to take care of the ASBC, we held a kick-off meeting at Luats new office (yes, he finally relocated his office to Frankfurt) yesterday evening. I felt very comfortable there from the first moment on and the location is close to the central station (10 mins by feet) and can be reached easily by car as well. So a pretty good location and cheap as well.
Some impressions from the skyline and the Frankfurt Fair I took on the way to the office. (Yes your eyes are right, there's a circus using the area of a former cargo railway station).

The manager's (Luats) room.

The desk at the entrance, which will be used as reception. Mai (the girl at the desk) often comes to his office to learn for university because her family lives in a small apartment where she does not find as much freedom to learn as in his office.

Luat was so kind to serve us with some coffee and tea.

Everyone brought some sweets because we had to bridge some time until it was time for dinner and listen to Michaels presentation and discuss some topics.

As you can see this took some time...

Finally we agreed about the decisive points and left for dinner to a chinese restaurant called "New Chinatown" which is run by a vietnamese guy. Anyway the Dim Sum was delicous as were the roasted duck and pork. Mai's family often goes there or pics some food there, so we got a table in a separate room. We also found some time to discuss the roadmap for the next few months between the two gears, but mostly we were laughing and kidding and had a good time
.
After dinner we went to a salsa club close by and also had a lot fun, because Luat can dance pretty good and Lani (not on the pics this time) but I'm sure you still remember her as once of the moderators of our chinese new year celebration wanted to go for salsa, too. So they danced a bit and Luat treated us both fair because he also danced some songs with me
. I actually cannot dance Salsa, but I know many other latin dances, like ChaCha, Samba and Rumba, so it was quite easy for me to adjust and let Luat swirl me around the dancefloor until I could not stop laughing
. I did not dance for a long time and I was wearing sneakers but fun is fun and I LOVE to dance
. Much to soon I had to catch the train and the others wanted to go a vietnamesian bar close to central station as well, which should offer Karaoke as well and should be the meeting point of the vietnamese underworld
. Maybe next time, because Sebastian said, who was there with Luat the night before as well, it's worth a visit
.
Arriving at the train station at home I found my bike a bit dislocated (luckily I chained it to a bicycle stand) and the backlight was missing
. Looked like someone systematically stole all the backlight bulbs from several bikes in quite a rude manner. Luckily I found the pieces of my backlight unbroken on the floor so that I could take them home and repair it this afternoon. My mum gave me one of the bulbs of her bike because I had none that fit.
Oh I forgot to mention my title: Director for social and cultural affairs
.
Michael will be president and Luat co-president and also responsible for the business aspects of the association in future. Sebastian will take care of tax and finances because he's a lawyer. We also agreed about most of the other positions inside and outside the board (the board will have six members - just the right size). We are still looking for someone who's able to take care of PR & Marketing, though.
My responsibility will also be more of general kind but we thought that a second vice-president would be no good idea... this is ok for me because my responsibilites within the charitable organisation (which will be closely connected to the ASBC), which will be responsible for the relief projects will be a lot higher. (A construction we had to chose because of the strict german laws for getting a charitable association.)
