    Nice surprise for me just before I left for London. I won the Louis Vuitton Asian Art Award! This image is of the winning work, it's an oil painting around 225cmx175cm.
    I got to go to a huge dinner party at the Four Seasons to receive the award, was so much fun. And part of the prize was a whole bunch of credit to spend at LV. Sweet!
    Will post some photos of the night asap.

    but...what's LV being part of the art? purpose of the award? judge by?

    this painting is a new one and it's not one of the HK ballet girls.

    Hey, congrats Simon! Are those new pieces or are those the same pieces that I've seen before in one of the collection books that were posed by our friends at the HK Ballet? I think they'd be really pumped up to hear that the final work was awarded so highly. I really enjoy your work!

    all my work is about transition, a moment of dramatic/violent change. the girl flying through the air represents an ambiguous moment...is she falling or dancing or the victim of a powerful force. all we know is that it's a moment that is made timeless by it's representation through oils on canvas. we don't know the result or the initiation of the event, only this single moment of transition.
