It is a month away before the earth once again re-rotates to the same spot from the sun and I felt I am lack of some kind of natural senses, like an old grandpa. My vision was haziness, things around me were just getting faster and sooner than I realized, they were coloured but not crystal clear, felt like a mist surrounding it. Even so, I think it is time for me to gather some new stuff and re-create a new show reel beforethe year ends. It wasn't straightforward, a bit of struggle, because I constantly believe there is something missing...

So I went back in search for some old tapes within the uni period, and tried to dig out some raw footage from the pass. There were 15+ tapes, and i realize I shouldn't be so serious to go through all these tapes.

Still they all line up for a body check*

As I went through all of them, I found a lot of footage which were either badly filmed or just being silly, however there were few friends who were captured in those tapes, and of course they were kindly enough to help me during those years.

Alan is a best friend of mine and he was asked to dress up like a hip hop try hard, acting as a graffiti sprayer against the green screen.

During the second year, I was doing a time remapping video, and Garvin was throwing apples to the right height within the camera screen for almost an hour.

And she also helped me in a doumentary video. "Excuse me sir, what are you searching for, in life?" lol

The balloon guy in where corner of Nike used to be.

Jono Q-rate, the one who I hanged out the most with during uni life, being ridiculous also got us inspired from each other.

I miss the time when I was carrying a handy DV cam around, just shooting at everything that interest me.

It was 2005, a short film I made to express human subliminal in visual experience, It was a recondite topic which combines with symbolic elements. I remember I was confused at some point, and my friend Gobie was also confused by me. However I believed in the concept, subconscious shouldn't be clear anyway.

Sometimes I guess it is hard to realize your existence, it requires something to remind, after digging out those tapes I realized the mist is gone.

great blog, i havnt seen any of those footage, you should try to put them together somehow, even randomly and show it to us! i love your "Excuse me sir, what are you searching for, in life?" project!!

I am having problem realizing my existence too, My life is kinda bull sometime, when working in a big team, didnt wanna try hard to stand out, but being too "low key" seems even worse, sometime i wish i could be
bolder....

I still remember my first inspiration, it was Sunday morning and I was left for childcare in my uncle’s apartment, I was petting his cat in the balcony, her furs were soft and smooth, I enjoyed company with her, when sunlight just gently warm up the balcony. My uncle walked into the balcony with a sketchbook and a few pencils, he told me to pick up a pencil and try to draw thing that I saw from the balcony, the papers were thick and rough, but I picked a pencil. Then he started to teach me draw stuff from the view of balcony, cars, buildings, light poles, and plants. It wasn’t straightforward to draw thing like his, but it had got me into drawing seriously, and I just love the moments when I was trying to get the shapes or lines right. From that day I started to draw everything that interests me with my childhood.

After finish my Form 2 studies in Hong Kong, I moved to Melbourne for further studies. I was living with a western family, and it wasn’t hard to pick up their food, culture and hobbies. I was easily influence by grunge music played in the next door. For so many nights of begging, I was blessed to own my first drum kit from my parents. I was obsessed with drums and my neighborhoods were kind enough to live it without a nag. I always enjoy the harmony with other instruments, and I just love to gather people to play as one. During my high school period I was either spending most of my time playing music or drawing with my sketchbook.

Throughout the end of high school, I got introduce by digital music, and it had opened my vision of mixing, editing, sequencing, and most importantly it had leaded me to video and motion graphics. I just love the process of making storyboard, style frames, and turn it into a motion pieces. It’s natural for me to share ideas, perspectives and develop with individuals or in a group. After graduated from Animation and Interactive media RMIT University Melbourne in 2006. I took a fulltime role as motion designer in a cinema and broadcast production company in Melbourne. During my spare time I still often pick up a pencil with recycle paper or drumsticks for exposing my thoughts and emotions inner me.
