Dog Town and Z-Boys

i have had this documentary for a while, and I STILL LOVE IT. i'm blogging about it cause i just got the Hollywod 'Lords of Dogtown' DVD. watched it and felt nothing. the documentary itself already speaks out what's needed of the Z-Boys. the movie is just another Hollywood idea of making money out of it. worst is Heath Ledger play Skip (can't understand a single word coming out of his mouth), and they didn't cast anyone as Jeff Ho. i believe he played a bigger role than Skip as a co-founder in the Zephyr team.



i truly give ZILLION of credits to the style Z-Boys created. they are just plain BEAUTIFUL. it's great that the Z-Boys took skateborading to a new level at that time. Stacy Peralta is my favorite. if you watch the documentary, you will fall in love with him. even though Tony Alva & Jay Adams got more fame out of it, they can't achive the aesthetic of skate-surfing (i made this up to describe the action) that Stacy performed. finally, all kudos to the only female in the Z-Boys team, Peggy Oki. she must be really EXTREMELY good to get to be in the Zephyr group! thus, the documentary didn't focus much on her. not a surprise. i bet she is shy herself!!!

anyway, do check out the Dog Town and Z-Boys documentary. it's a must! Sean Penn as a narrator is just plain 'classic'!!!!
