read an article by steven pinker on the atlantic [www.theatlantic.com] title, Freedom's Curse. really interesting. read it. i'm loving the atlantic. thanks to a friend who direct me to this site. it's really hard to pinpoint what site is good nowadays cause there are just SO MANY choices out there. glad to have found something to read. now, down to a thought i have tht comes up randomly while chatting with friend. nothing really special. it all comes back to my reading on steven pinker's article and future book, The Stuff of Thought. for now, i'm reading The Pencil, and it's about the history of design and circumstance of a pencil. yea. weird choice. hahahah! but i like it. :P
ok. circling back.
due to recent weather, we probably say, "This weather is cold as hell!" so, why cold as 'hell'? is 'hell' really cold? not tht i remember. it's being embeded in most ppl's head, hell should be firing red hot!!!
but if i say, "This weather is cold as heaven!!"? i'm sure ppl will be pointing at me and laugh. but doesn't tht make much more sense? heaven is portray way high up in the sky, so, def, cold. right? :P
if you argue 'hell' is being use cause of simile, why can't 'heaven' be it? oh i know, maybe 'heaven' is always in the pretty state tht 'hell' should be the bad word, and heaven can never be bad ass! right?
my point also goes down to when you are getting fuck (opps!), as in heaving sex. don't tell me you never say, "Oh, God..." as an expression of such pleasure.
so is the 'Oh, God..." consider bad ass? or is tht good? i don't have anything against having sex. sex is def. a pleasure when it's of mutual consensus. but it's a PG sign on TV when it happen. i wonder how good of a parent i'll be?
(hahah! i like the chian of thoughts on these. i dunno where i'm heading. but...*shrug*)
well of course today, nothing can really be censor. some rules have been swing around in regard to such argument, by adding PG or parental advisory notice. tht graphically cool black and white type in a box, which now i believe has also become part of a symbol for 'toughness', 'i'm THE badass', 'i'm OLDER' or 'hey! look at me! i can speak of words you can't even hear!'! hahahahh!

words are so special. esp in today's society where many words are being embeded with situation, judgement, status, color, object, shape, tone, everything. well, this only in the point of view on this 26 alphabets i'm typing/speaking in the united states. who knows if chinese character can be such a fun thing to explore? can it? ashame to say, my chiense is third quarter full. hahahah! but i definitely find english is really fun. possibilities. hahah!

shorty - i don't disagree. but why hell then? why not heaven? why not earth? hahaha! what makes hell more suitable? i guess tht's just cause it has always been use in the society?
