The Pang Ho-Cheung's 'Exodus' leads the pack with 10 award nominations while Jacob Cheung's 'Battle of Wits' and Patrick Tam's 'After This Our Exile' both have nine nominations. They are all nominated for the 'Best Picture' award along with 'Eye in the Sky' and Johnnie To's 'Exiled'.
Unlike most awards, the nominated films are not from the previous calendar year, so the nominees represent some films which have already placed well either the 2006 HK Film Awards or the 2006 Golden Horse awards, while other films which were release in 2007 have not yet competed for awards. Interestingly films which were relatively overlooked in 2006, such as Feng Xiaogang's 'The Banquet' recieved 7 Bauhinia nominations after winning only one HK Film Award last April.
Also suprising, 2007's Chinese New Years hit 'Protege' only earned one nomination, in the 'Best Music'.
