'Wushu The Movie' nabs US$4.5 Million in funding from Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan

For the last 7+ months, director Anthony Szeto was trying to get funding for a coming of age film set in the interior of China revolving around young characters in a chinese martial arts (wushu) training center.  Based on early teasers, the film would touch on the world of contemporary martial arts in China, including forms (taolu) and free sparring (sanda).  At the time the director was aiming for US$1.5 million in funding. 

It appears his persistence has paid off, as a US$4.5 million deal was recently announced between Szeto,  Dadi Century films and martial arts film legends Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung.  Chan will serve as an adviser / producer and Hung will act in the film.

Dadi Century has already funded two other films,  the completed documentary 'Iris Chang: The Rape of Nanking' and the Tibetan drama 'Wild Horses From Shangri-La.', aiming for a February competition date.
