Legendary Raymond Chow Cashes Out of Golden Harvest

Legendary producer Raymond Chow,  the man credited with bringing Bruce Lee to the world has just closed the deal to sell his 24% stake in Golden Harvest.  The buyer, China's Chengtian Entertainment will be paying approximately US$26 million

The once top producer of Chinese language films transitioned to exhibition and distribution, but the new ownership looks to change this.  Chengtian promises to produce up to 20 films per year with Golden Harvest. 

Chengtian is actually partly owned by Japan's Avex Group,  which has recently moved into the world of Asian film production,  serving as a financier for John Woo's mega-budget 'The Battle of Red Cliff' amongst other endeavors.  Remaining share holders in Golden Harvest include billionare Li Ka-Shing, Jackie Chan and EMI.
