You may recognize Nakamura Shido from his role as the Japanese Swordsman in Jet Li's 'Fearless', or from Clint Eastwood's 'Letters from Iwo Jima', but you may not have known he is actually a classically trained traditional stage actor from a family with many generations in Kabuki, a traditional Japanese form of theater. He first debuted on the Kabuki stage in 1981 at the age of 9, but didn't try his hand at films until 2002. 2006 was a banner year for his international career and he is seeking to capitalize on this by focusing on more international film work.
