  • Boutique Hotel in Singapore

We lived in a boutique hotel near Chinatown in Singapore this time.  Cos last time we lived in Holiday Inn, very inconvenient to find FOOD, and can't walk to the MRT station.  So my E booked this hotel, where we can find good food and can walk to MRT station.

This is my first time to stay in a boutique hotel, when I first stepped into the room (on 1/F with a tiny window), I asked my E "can we change hotel?"  "NO, we paid already, and it has been introduced on the magazine!", so he went to ask to change a room on the 2/F, much better.  The interior is a very common room, but decorated with some Chinese things, this hotel's theme is very Chinese, not so luxury as in a 4/5-star hotel.  It's not so worst as I have in the 1st impression.  I have a good sleep there too, so not bad, and honestly speaking, really convenient spot, and cheaper than those located in Orchard Road

There are lots of boutique hotels in this area.  The one opposite to my hotel, has decorated with lots of chair, and I think it's more prettier and have a small balcony, maybe next time we'll try this hotel.

Another boutique hotel, all these hotels are re-decorated from old building, very special:

I took this pic fm. my hotel room, see the very ancient window frame (red wood)?

The front side of the hotel:

yes - this used to be a red light district and i think there are still some in operations these days, the number light boxes are still outside some of the units.
hotel 1929 isi truly more of a boutique hotel in chinatown, i find the rest more similar to motels or inns.
hope you and your family enjoyed your stay in singapore!

That's interesting.   In the US, boutique hotels are usually considered fancier and have better amenities than chain hotels.

Boutique hotels mean low-grade? Just as long as it's got room and it's relatively clean, I would be okay with it as well. And when it's near food and transportation, that's so important!!
