i read part of kitchen god's wife in like middle school and was disturbed by some of the graphic scenes so i stopped and never picked it up again.  

if you really wanna get thru the book, try finding it on tape at the library and just listen instead of reading it yourself.

Oh, yes. You can see a person's personality with how they treat a boring DVD. Totally!!! I fast-forward and rarely skip chapters. I don't want to miss any details. Yes, I'm very detail-oriented and I want to know what there is to know in many things. Anal, maybe? I think that is a very good trait to possess.

Amy Tan's books aren't all good. Even Joy Luck Club seemed to have too many characters and stories going on. I don't actually like that jumping back and forth but I guess if you concentrate, you'll get it fairly well. I have Kitchen God's Wife and I refuse to read it. Been on the shelf for a decade now. haha. I see her books at the library and skip them. She's not a favorite author..... Skim the paragraphs is what I say.

which Amy Tan book is it? I read Kitchen God's Wife and I didn't like it in the beginning but then it got really really good as I continued reading... hahaa... maybe you gotta give it a try... =)
