  • MMM (March Music Madness)

    2009-04-04 10:40PM / 標準BLOG

The month of March was indeed full of music madness going on, so here are some pics to sum it all up

here's my friend's band - King Kong Jane - performing at the beautiful Esplanade outdoor theatre for a "Speak Good English" campaign (yea, we Singaporeans need that)

King Kong Jane once again, performing at at live TV show called "Live n Loaded" (which promotes the local music scene in Singapore)

The All-American Rejects! came here for a short stint, for the launch of a new Nokia phone (which comes with lot of free songs for download)
love their latest single "Gives You Hell".

Then came the 2 concerts that I was totally looking forward to - Jason Mraz and Coldplay.

Both were awesome!!! They were such great performers and entertainers. Jason Mraz used mainly his voice (which was amazing when he did that opera solo for his song "Mr. Curiosity"), and at the same time knew how to move the crowd.  Coldplay used more of stage antics, such as huge yellow balloons flying around when they sang "Yellow", and moving around a lot to please the crowd on every side of the stadium.

Here's a shot of the stage from where i was (and this was already zoomed to the max), yea, i was THAT far away. But i still enjoyed the concert to the max.

Well the best part of course, was meeting Mr.A-Z himself   *Dies in peace*  =D

No more concerts for me, though i'm very tempted to go for OASIS, but I'm quite broke from all the concerts i've been to so far for the year. Shall take a break for now.

Meanwhile, looking forward to a great Good Friday weekend next week!  Hong Kong, here i come (after 5 years).   H&M here i come!!!
  • mid-year resolutions

    2008-04-16 12:12PM / 標準BLOG

(this entry was written at 1145pm on Tues night)

    was supposed to be sleeping,
after being in the freeeaking cold exam hall for 2 1/2 hours today while it was pouring and thunder-ing outside, my head was pounding madly and so i just took some panadol pills, about to go to sleep, but realised i have too many thoughts to be cleared before i can actually fall asleep.

    so speaking of EXAM,
i (still) can't believe it, that i almost missed my paper (french) today!!! i have NO IDEA how i always had the thought that my paper was on wednesday. so even while i was checking the exam venue and seat number before i left home today, i did NOT notice the DATE! while i was out trying to STUDY (thinking i still have a lot of time till tomo), i got a msg from my dear classmate Amanda telling me that she'll see me at 5pm right? i was like, OMFG. the paper is TODAY! called her to double-check, though i was pretty sure i made a mistake. and yes, i made the biggest booboo ever, in my last semester of sch! and luckily it was still a few hours away to the paper, so i had time to make my way to sch. omg, Amanda, you are my life-saver! i should also be thanking the lucky stars for blessing upon me because if i ever miss this paper, i'd have to pay sch fees for another semester just to re-take this paper! yes, STUPID char. BIMBO char. WTF was wrong with me??

anyways, at least it's finally over and i DID take the paper, so i could AT LEAST pass, i hope (fingers crossed).

so that was the DRAMA for the day.

now for the thoughts running through my head..

well, FYP and school is officially over (one more paper on friday), 4 years of school, just like that. so what's next?

a cab driver was talking to me about how you have just about 50 years of your life to enjoy life to the fullest and after that it just slows down (as you lose your energy and become bedridden, perhaps). basically, life is short. so we should really think about what we want and can do while we are still young.

of course, the main priority now is to get a good job so my parents can retire happily and i can pay off my debts. but i do not want to be tied down and be a slave to WORK. At the same time, i want to be doing things that i enjoy, learning new things perhaps, things that i couldn't do as a student because well, money is (almost) everything.

so i call these mid-year resolutions.

    TRAVEL.
not many people are fortunate enough to be travelling around when they are still young (and so i really thank my parents for all the experiences that i've had)

well, i've been fortunate enough to be able to go to Paris to study, when i was 19. and that was a life-changing experience, definitely. totally started my whole love for travelling.

and then i was also given the opportunity to go work in the US. another great experience. made great new friends, fell in love (and out of love), but still, the greatest memories are always in my head.

so going for the grad trip to europe next week is almost fulfilling already (given we won't have much time to do this once we start working)

    LEARNING NEW THINGS...
i want to learn new things, that i've always wanted to. dance/music (any form of dance, and maybe the guitar/piano/drums).

and of course, the learning process can continue, because i really do (and will) miss school. So yea, I hope to get a masters at some point of time down the road..

maybe more will come up on the list, but for now that's about it.

    Europe, here i come.
  • case of the ex

    2008-03-31 12:19AM / 標準BLOG

    can ex-es ever be friends?

so i tried to avoid talking to him because i know i'm ready yet, and i will still be affected by anything he says.

    but he initiated a conversation.

and while i was looking forward to a pure 'just friends' conversation,
it turns out that he's still the same him.

telling me about his future plans, about buying a car (which he couldn't when he was with me), about saving up for his own home (which is obviously telling me that i'm not in the picture in his future) and i quote, that "it'd be great" when he's out (of the marines).

also telling me that "at least he knows his plans and what he's working towards" (emphasizing the fact when he told me that i'm a girl who doesn't know what she wants, indecisive, and not what he's looking for)

    why tell me all these?
is he trying to "win the breakup"?

i can't see anymore point of view but the fact that he's still being petty and wants to tell me he's doing better off to somehow spite me and induce some form of reaction from me to make me feel bad.

and it just further re-affirms my decision, that i've made the right choice.

he seriously isn't the one for me at this moment, being so young (i think i failed to mention in my previous entries that he is 6 years younger than me) and immature in this thoughts.

sigh, it's just not meant to be.

i hope one day he'd come to realise that this is not what love is about.

  • Goodbye my lover

    2008-03-29 1:37AM / 標準BLOG

they aren't exactly my lovers, but i've been with one for a year and another, for 6 years.
    yea,
it's goodbye to the Final-Year Project (FYP) and Maroon 5.

So we're FINALLY done with FYP and handed everything in on Wednesday. FREEEEEEDOM never tasted so good. and this is why i haven't blogged in a while too. So here goes a series of events..

our dear friend Colin's band "king kong jane" performing at HOME club

    the 2 "groupies"

cam-whoring in Ministry of Sound's ladies' after that, as usual..

and then, while in the midst of rushing FYP, i was also anticipating something that i've been waiting for the past 6 years... Maroon 5 Live in Singapore! You have no idea how surreal it felt, at the concert. Because for the past 6 years, being such a huge fan, all i could was to listen to their CDs, read about their concerts in other countries, and watch videos of their live performances online/in DVDs. Never in a million years would i have expected them to be here. and there i was, seeing Adam Levine sing LIVE, and singing along to every single song (which i'm not sure how many others in the crowd were doing the same as i did). Though it was a rather "civilised" concert, having the first 12 rows all from the sponsors and not exactly huge fans. i ran to the front, and i think i was one of the few jumping madly up and down. Still, it was a huge dream come true, and now i await James Blunt's concert (hence the title of my entry) on May 13th and then my list of "must-watch concerts" would have mostly been striked out. and now, piccies.

Cheryl and I awaiting anxiously for the concert to start..

    and it finally did!
80 minutes only, reviews said it was too short, but to me it was good enough =)

adam levine and mickey on the guitar

    james the bassist

    matt flynn on the drums

    jesse carmichael on the keyboards

    *bliss*

and so i can now die and rest in peace...

so it was bye to maroon 5..
and the next day, we were flustered trying to rush the report for FYP.

but it was finally all over at 4:30pm! (half an hour before the deadline)

and then it's time for post-FYP partaaaaaaaaay!

    the gang chillin' at TIMBRE.
and 10 years later when i look at this i'd go "college days.. good times."

    the "ADIDAS" gang!
we've come a long way for the past 4 years.. i *heart* these 2 and i'm so going to miss all this when we all come out to work (Cue: emo music)

So FYP's over, all that's ahead are french and reality tv classes. though still a little worried about the presentation ("oral defense") for our FYP 2 weeks later.

then it's exams, and off to EUROPE for grad trip! woahoo! can't wait to see the other parts of Europe which i've missed when i was in Paris 5 years ago.

    on the emotional front,
well, it's been like, what, a month, since the whole thing happened. and it's not easy when anything/everything reminds you of that someone. So i was watching HITCH (for the 2nd time on AXN), always my favourite movie, nice quotes, but all i could think of, was watching the dvd with him last december.

i wish i'm staying in a house next to a nice lake, and all i want to do is to just row away in my own boat, and like in the music video of this song, just let the photos float away on the waters as i row away..

Well I can't explain why it's not enough, Cause I gave it all to you.
And if you leave me now, oh just leave me now.
It's the better thing to do,
    It's time to surrender,
    It's been to long pretending.
    Theres no use in trying,
When the pieces don't fit anymore, Pieces don't fit here anymore.

  • nothing lasts forever

    2008-03-16 9:45PM / 標準BLOG

    so this is it.
perhaps this was really a summer love that was never meant to be.
he still doesn't see that loving someone doesn't mean changing that person to be who you want him/her to be. i can't believe he chose to see that "i think drinking is more important than him", and failed to see all the feelings and how i've put 100% of my heart in this relationship for the past 1 1/2 years.

    my heart's pretty dead.

Been listening to Maroon 5's album to gear up for their upcoming concert, but the only song that's replaying in my head is this, which is so apt for the moment.

    "Nothing Lasts Forever"

It is so easy to see
    Dysfunction between you and me
We must free up these tired souls
Before the sadness kills us both

I tried and tried to let you know
I love you but I'm letting go
It may not last but I don't know
    Just don't know

    If you don't know
    Then you can't care
    And you show up
    But you're not there
    But I'm waiting
    And you want to
Still afraid that I will desert you

    Everyday
With every worthless word we get more far away
The distance between us makes it so hard to stay
But nothing lasts forever, but be honest babe
It hurts but it may be the only way

A bed that's warm with memories
    Can heal us temporarily
    The misbehaving only makes
The ditch between us so damn deep

Built a wall around my heart
I’ll never let it fall apart
    But strangely I wish secretly
It would fall down while I'm asleep

    If you don't know
    Then you can't care
    And you show up
    But you're not there
    But I'm waiting
    And you want to
Still afraid that I will desert you, babe

    Everyday
With every worthless word we get more far away
The distance between us makes it so hard to stay
But nothing lasts forever, but be honest babe
It hurts but it may be the only way

Though we have not hit the ground
Doesn't mean we're not still falling,
Oh I want so bad to pick you up
But you're still too reluctant to accept my help
What a shame, I hope you find somewhere to place the blame
But until then the fact remains

    Everyday
With every worthless word we get more far away
The distance between us makes you so hard to stay
Nothing lasts forever, but be honest babe
It hurts but it may be the only way
