Dear all,

Happy new year and Kung Hei Fat Choy!!!

Over the new year I got a bit sick and tired of this concrete jungle we called Hong Kong, so me and a couple of friends decided to venture out to the outskirt of this city to search for a peace of mind. What we found blew our mind away...never really care to know about this side of Hong Kong...

here's are some of the photos I've taken...enjoy...

On a beautiful sunny day, we started out from Tai O and hiked along the South-Western Coast of Lantau Island for approx. 3 hrs...

When we finally reached the campsite in Tsin Yue Wan around 5:00 pm, we quickly set up our tents and found a perfect spot for view of the sunset. Apparently, this campsite is said to have one the nicest view of the sunset in Hong Kong...

Although I was a bit disappointed to find out that after nightfall, the city of vices, Macau, suddenly appeared across the sea with its dreadful city lights...but I guess the beautiful sunset, compensated for all that...and we got real drunk at night anyways...so it's didn't really matter that much...

And I guess it's true that, sometimes when you live long enough in a city, you tend to focus more on her vulgarities, but the fault could equally be ours, that we city dwellers are often too ignorant or busy in our own hustle n bustle that we misses all the beautiful things a city possess...

great pix, derek! tsin yue wan is a great place to hide away from the busy city... there is another quiet spot like that further out from tai o, but i forgot the name... too bad i was way too busy when i was in hk to do anything like this... how are things? hope all is well on filming front... and happy CNY.

the pics are gorgeous ~ HK is pretty dense - once you step outside it's really like a whole different world ~ hiking must've been fun!

I heard that in hong kong, people actually gather in a circle and barbecue their own food. for a cbc like me, it's uncanny and unheard of. we usually leave all the BBQ cooking to one person and take turns.

hey boon man wazup!! Did you click on the hyperlink I provided in my blog?? anyways, there are a lot of camping and hiking stores on Fa Yuen St. in Mong Kok and sells maps and have a lot of information on camping sites in Hong Kong. You can go on this government site to get some info too: http://www.afcd.gov.hk/eindex.html

thank you for showing us some really beautiful scenic photos~
a friend and i went driving around the outskirt of this city in the summer of 2006 looking for beautiful beaches and resorts...it was a great adventure into village roads and quiet, clean beaches...it's always good to get to know more about the surroundings of the city that we live in...=)

That campsite looks really cool! Where did you find info on that place. I didn't even know u could camp in HK.
