I love 3108 when I can’t find it in those “intelligent” drop-down menus after I’ve chosen “August” in the “Month” field.
I love 3108 coz I can host a “party-before-school-starts” party.
I love 3108 when I was riding the cool race bike in the garden of POC, or playing street video games, racing.
I love 3108 as I force myself to finish up holiday homework before my birthday, so I won’t be working late at night before 0109 just to do homework.
I love 3108 because school starts at 0109, mostly. Everyone gets back from trips and summer schools. Everyone’s here to celebrate and have some fun!

I remember 3108. I remember 1997. I remember watching Princess Diana’s photo on the television, and I remember crying on my birthday.
I remember 3108. I remember all the love I am surrounded in. I am reminded of all the people that have been part of my year, part of my life.
I remember 3108. I remember organizing my own birthday party. I remember creating a treasure hunt that couldn’t end because a clue’s been misplaced. I remember recruiting a group of station managers to make treasure hunt more exciting. I remember forcing everyone to recognize songs from their intros. I remember using excel to tally votes for food at my birthday buffet.

I learn from 3108. I know that I couldn’t simply celebrate my birthday once with all my friends when my friends are from all kinds of backgrounds, different groups.
I learn from 3108. I know that surprises are to be treasured, because they don’t just happen, and they rarely happen smoothly.
I learn from 3108. I now know what kinds of food are good party snacks, what kinds aren’t.

3108 is over. The next is coming up in 364 days’ time.

3108 might be different. It’d be the first that for the previous year, I spent more or less equal amounts of time in UK and HK.

But 3108 will always be the same: With my family and friends, full of love and surprises, and I would always have to add 1 year to my age when 3108 comes by.
