its almost time!  in another 1.5 hours or so the opening ceremonies start!

can't wait.... been waiting for Beijing to host the olympics since... like 1994?   (when they didn't get 2000...)  no wushu in there this time, but maybe thats OK.  (thats the subject of another blog or two)... :-P

Anyway, I have been meaning to do a blog about the olympics for a while.  you'll recall the torch came through here on May 2nd...    and the preparations have been going on for a while.

At the end of march i brought you this from TST:

oh yes,  the black one is carrying a gun, not racist at all... :-P

In addition to lots of cops,  there's signs and banners everywhere, they've cleaned up extra hard and even random stuff like this:

The Fuwa's say: "don't buy fake gucci bags!"

I found out last week that the brand new parking lot they built near my apartment in Hung Hom is not a public parking lot, its actually specifically for the olympics:

Audis and VWs!  cause Equestrians ride in style. :-P

they also have some big digital countdown clocks around town (in the central MTR station and at the airport at least),  i gotta try to snap a pic on my way through tonight. :-P

The opening ceremony was pretty impressive. Must be a great atmosphere in Hong Kong and China right now.

Jasmine - they only showed a brief part of Jackie singing on the stage,  they cut away to the commentators after that. :-(

(it was late here too!)  but i saw Vincent Kok hosting the ATV report...

Do you have tickets to see any of the equestrian events.  Sounds like they're being held really early and really late so that the horses don't suffer in the oppressive HK heat.

BTW, Nic was wearing the AnD cap at the airport. Think he'll wear it on stage? Be good for the site!

It'll be midnight over here when the ceremony starts. I'll be staying up to catch Nic. And New Zealand comes out around 3:30am. I'll try to stay up, but it'll be hard. I've been really tired this week.
