AnD - Diesel Gallery Show #3 Opening Party - pt 1

OK, I'm way behind on my blogs (again), but I wanted to quickly share my pictures from the opening gala of last night's new Diesel Gallery exhibition here in HK.

As you recall we've partnered with Diesel on two of these before (one with Wing Shya, and one with the 'New Grand Tour' group of artists).  I was in the US during the second one unfortunately, but I caught the first one:  It was a gallery opening party followed by a concert w/ AnD artists. (click for blogs about each).

This time it was very similar, except featuring controversial photographer Terry Richardson (wikipedia, website).  He's controversal because amongst other things, he likes to take pictures of naked people. (including himself!) :-O

This show is of his pictures taken in Rio and other places before coming to HK,  not of any of the photos he's taken since coming to HK last week.  The exhibition runs until the 20th of December.  (but warning,  not for anyone under 18!)

Anyway, here are my pictures from the gallery opening, mostly from outside.

It was crowded outside again with reporters and cameramen and staff running in and out.  The event was supposed to start at 8, but it took a while for guests to start trickling in.  Some were Diesel corporate people, some were guests of Terry Richardson,  some were AnD artists too of course.  But no 'VIPs'  showed up for a while... until:


Holy crap, its Hong Kong Elvis!   You can see this guy in LKF or Wanchai sometimes (here's something from youtube of him),  apparently Terry Richardson had photographed him and he was on the guest list!


The second VIP was this guy,  I couldn't remember his name (八两金 aka Bobby Yip), but I knew he's very famous...  (for being a really weird looking guy...)  he actually came with his son who was dressed EXACTLY the same as him (which he does all the time apparently), but because of the adult content inside, they told him his son couldn't enter,  so he sent him home. :-(


Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that to be none other than Gordon Liu in the beanie...


the first 'big deal' guests to come, that all the press clamored for, were these two pretty faces...


you may recognize them, their names are Rosanne Wong and her sister Race,  known as '2R'. they got the full press treatment, including some interviews with TV (just like this video i took last time).

After that, the flood gates were broken and the other big shots started streaming in.  I'm guessing you'll recognize a few faces here:

AnD wise we got Johnny Lu and Phil Ng representing! (unfortunately the Onimal has no blog to link to!)


The man who needs no introduction... but I'll do one anyway - Mr. Willie Chan.

There was a big commotion from the other side of the entrance area and all the photographers turned away from the door -

it was the arrival of Terry Richardson himself, along with his two hosts Daniel Wu and Lisa S.


All you can see after a second is Alexi Tan's head sticking out from the crowd.  the rest are blocked by press...


I used my superior reach and lighter weight camera to get a better view once they had stopped in front of the door....
