On Sunday Swang and I went to Macau for the Macau Grand Prix at the invite of my friend I took too much video during the race though, its going to take me a while to prepare!   and yes, i still have Hawaii photos left to blog about, but I thought I'd try to get at least some of the Macau stuff in here too...

So this is all the non-race related stuff i took pictures of!

Between the races, Swang, ネイルアートちゃん and I walked over to the Casino Lisboa:

Holy Smokes, whats that giant golden thing behind it?!

Its the gigantic new 'Grand Lisboa' Casino. Still under construction!

Obscenely huge!  It's come a long way since I visited last year.

Since ネイルアートちゃん is living here now, she was the local, so we made her lead. ;-)

Inside the lobby they have had this Qing Bronze Horse head on display... I remember i read about it on Wikipedia... wow, $8.9 mill for that?!

As it was race weekend, they also had a race car on display.  Supposedly they did an hourly 'race queen parade' but we missed it.  doh! :-P

After the final race ended we headed over to the touristy area downtown.  Stephen had never been to Macau before, so we had to give him the big tour: マカオの観光ところも行った:

Post Office and Senado Square on Avenida Almeida Ribeiro.  Not only was it a Sunday, but it was the weekend of the GP, so it was more crowded than I have normally seen...

We made it through the crowds to the Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral:

ie the single most touristy spot in Macau.

Second most photographed thing in Macau after the Church Facade...

Last up, ネイルアートちゃん took us to get the local delicacies at a hidden restaurant:
    最後は僕達マカオの特別マカオ料理を探しました!澳門式蛋撻を知っている?

Oh yes, authentic Macanese Egg Tarts.   So delicious I had two!

Because of the post race rush on the ferries, we had to wait til 10pm to get on a boat back to HK.  So we took a bus to the new Venetian Casino (not realizing at the time it was in the Cotai Region, far from the ferry terminal).

god damn this thing is huge!  apparently its the 2nd biggest building in the world!

I didn't take any pics outside, but here's one i got inside:

this was like one of several huge atria inside the building. obscene... and there's like another 10 huge casinos being built nearby right now...  obscene.

we went to an auto show which was like a 15 minute walk down to the exhibition center at the Venetian: カジノ中も車Expoありました:

A Ferrari and a fancy Audi...

I may be headed back to Macau next next week...  i'll try to get better pics if i head down here again.

I was just there last May. I love the po tart at Cafe Nata. I remember the first time I was in Macau (as an exchange student) with a bunch of my friends and we were lost looking for the egg tarts. Finally I decided to ask a police officer where we can get some, and he pointed us to Cafe Nata. You know where I love going to in Macau? Fernando's at the black sand beach area. The owner is so chill and the clams there are quite tasty.

I have a feeling I will have to save up a pretty penny or marry a very rich man to gamble at that Casino :(.

Love the cheeky smile on your face with that statue!

    Thanks for sharing

I kinda think those huge, sparkly hotels are obscene and grotesque. I know they're trying to outshine the others and they're draws. And they wanna be the 2nd Las Vegas.

Macau was fun and simpler when I was there just a few years ago. And that's where I had drinks with Chow Yun Fat so it's all good.
