  • Sunday's Bike Ride...

I didn't mention it last week, but last Thursday night after work I went up to Taipo to ride my bike... only to find out that the bastards had struck again...  もう一度香港の田舎で自転車乗った(運動為に)。大浦から上水まで行った。僕の写真を見て!

i think they had tried to steal my tire this time, but failing to break the lock, they decided to just be dicks and stomped on the back wheel to the point where the bike could hardly roll.  doh! this was the wheel i had had to replace a few months ago too! :-P

I had to lock it back up and come back on Sunday while the nearby bike shop was open to get it repaired.  To my good fortune the guy was able to fix it by straightening out the spokes,  no need to change the entire wheel. whew.     Also because I come there often, he didn't even charge me!
(every cloud has a silver lining...)

So after a slight delay, I took a nice leisurely ride up to Sheung Shui, near the border.

Some of my pics from along the way:

housing, rural HK style... i've noticed a lot of the older places have the date they were made written on them in big numbers... a 1969 is here in the picture. ;-)

As you know the Olympics are in town, and some of the venues are up here (one at Fotan, one near Fanling).  so they've put security guards on all the pedestrian bridges that go over the tracks...  I dunno if they're here 24/7 or not... but most of the ones i saw looked like they were
    snoozing.  :-P オリムピクの馬術イベントがここから近いから、鉄道にsecurityガード一杯居た。

    Al-Queda doesn't stand a chance!

I took my time and cruised around Shueng Shui a bit before locking my bike at the station...

    Sunset over the Fanling Highyway...

    It looks lovely around here.

Sorry about the dicks attacking your bike, how people get kicks out of vandalism is beyond me.

ac100 - I can't bring it into the building and my place doesn't have much space and no where to really ride there anyway. I would have to bring it back by train each time.

Nice scenery for the bike ride.  It looks so peaceful here... very different from the busy city streets.

Too bad the security guard wasn't watching your bike.
