This is why i don't put much value in the talking heads on TV:

Its funny to see how excited everyone is trying to look about Sarah Palin.    She could be the next Fred Thompson! :-P

Another hypocricy that the Daily Show and others have brought up is how, after her very well-written speech the other night (obviously someone with some skills wrote the speech based on how everyone is impressed with it), people are using the speech as an example of how "great" and "qualified" she is.

But on the flip side of the coin, there are McCain ads that attack Obama as being someone who is only good at giving speeches.

I agree that being able to give a good speech doesn't make someone a good candidate for office, but you can't say that about the other guy and then not apply it to your own.  And I think Obama's abilities go far beyond just being a good orator .. wheras with Palin ... who knows?  She kinda frightens me based on her stances ...

Heh that's just sad.  Saw another part of the Daily Show last night where Jon was asking Newt Gingrich about how McCain can't use the inexperience thing against Obama anymore.  And Newt Gingrich was saying how Obama had never made an executive decision in his entire career or something along those lines, and then Jon said well neither has McCain, and Newt Gingrich said Exactly...and Jon just looked dumbfounded heh.  The things the Republicans keep saying and doing makes me laugh.  I haven't watched enough of the Democrats though, so maybe they're being just as foolish.

Ah well here's the link, you've probably seen it already though, but makes me laugh watching it:

JV:  there was an interview on ABC by Charlie Gibson asked some really good (funny) questions about how he could pick someone he'd only met once before in his life as his running mate.... and claim they're the best qualified person for the job.

Actually when I first heard McCain picked a woman to be his VP I thought it was pretty smart on his part.  He got all the "we want a woman in the white house" people to migrate over to his side, while Obama still has all the "we don't want another old white guy to run this country" people on his side.  Too bad for McCain Palin seems like an idiot who doesn't know much and McCain I can hardly believe or trust anything he says.

xibanyae - there are a lot of fake hillary supporters out there (operation 'chaos', etc).  i don't think very many people who were supporting Hillary on issues would switch sides based on an informed decision about Palin's background.

the sad part is that i already have heard a few ex-hillary supporters saying that they were impressed with palin in general and with the party choosing a woman, so they were thinking things over!!!!   :(

jason - yes, exactly,  thats why i mentioned the fred thompson thing... the Republicans seem to be desperate to cling to any new name before they have a chance to know anything about them... then once the shine is off and that person's record is vetted, suddenly reality sets in...

I may be wrong, but i think the more Sarah Palin opens her mouth, the more people will see the reality - she's not the most qualified person for the job.... (what, she never went overseas until 2007!?!)

This is was so right on!!

Turns out Palin is a creationist who wants it taught in schools alongside evolution.  And she doesn't believe in global warming.
