How cool that they decorate for Christmas in Hong Kong because I don't think that, for the majority of people, it is a religious holiday nor even an embedded part of Chinese culture (though just wait another generation or so).

I have done nothing yet to prepare for Christmas, at least in terms of decorations.  I think we are buying our tree on Sunday.  Since it is a live tree, you don't want to buy it too early or it becomes a fire hazard.  We like to keep our tree until at least January 1.  A lot of people here in the South throw their tree out the day after Christmas, but put it up the day after Thanksgiving (i.e., the fourth Friday in November).  All of my frustrated decorator goes into trimming the tree.  I don't bake cookies (though I will certainly eat cookies other have baked), make jams and jellies to give to others, create Photoshop cards or do other "crafty" things for the holiday.  Mostly I just work and earn money so I can purchase all of the required accouterments of Christmas with cash.  With the exception of a few gift cards, my Christmas shopping is already complete.  But I still get great coupons via email and the US mail every day now.  But I think I got everybody the right gift.  (I must keep telling myself this so that I continue to believe it and don't spent any more $$.)
